I sold tons of and gave alot of stuff to my brother about 7 years ago, because I figured if I wanted to play whatever it was again I could do the roms. When I actually played the roms, it didn't get the same feeling I did when I use to play them on the actual system. I now regret selling them or giving them out and its forced me to rebuy lots of stuff.
I don't hate roms, its just not the same feeling I guess..
I buy carts, but always end up playing the roms...

It makes sense if you like rpgs. I would love to collect all the classic rpgs on the Genesis and S-NES, but it's stupid to actually play the carts instead of the roms since the batteries are unreliable and can die. Given how time consuming rpgs are, it makes more sense to play roms where you can permanently save the date on your pc(and easily back them up too)
Playing hard, older action games is better with roms too, since you can save state and not have to start all over again when all your lives are gone. Roms are convenient, I try playing cartridges as much as I can though for the authentic retro experience and I like collecting them, but roms have their uses
I have never viewed emulation as a substitute for buying and playing hard copies of games, but there's a convenience to it that can't be denied.

This happened to me. A near perfect game of Final Fantasy VI with 150+ hours on the clock gone in an instant.Gamerforlife wrote:It makes sense if you like rpgs. What's worse, I've even considered buying carts for consoles I don't own like the PC-Engine. I keep stopping halfway through Gunhed with the thought "I should really own this".

I guess. This vicious cycle of mine is somewhat depressing.lordofduct wrote:Good boy, you've done the right thing!
