As usual slaine kills it. I like alot of these army of the pharoah rappers i just never cared for the east coast beats , especially vinny paz. And who knew a dude from slipknot rapped. Actually he wasn't to bad.

I'm the opposite, I used to love the boom bap stylings of "The Torture Papers" but have started to dislike their latest offerings - it's musically bland, with the whole industrious, soulless production they now use from people like Vanderslice and Stu Bangas. The only MCs that interest me are the ones with a personality or capable of spitting highly technical verses: Apathy, Esoteric, Reef and Blacastan. Even Celph sounds corny these days. On the other hand, I enjoyed the Demigodz' "Killmatic" album this year precisely because it didn't have that awful, hollow production - it actually had dope beats. As for Vinnie Paz, he's just at a comfortable stage of his career where he just churns out verses, much like Sean Price was doing a few years ago. There's a distinct lack of the creativity he had on his first two JMT albums, and the subsequent orchestral era from 2003-2009 with Stoupe at least had power, intensity and a sense of humour. His tales of swinging swords with Gods and telling us he would "liquify our guts and lungs" were clearly tongue-in-cheek - now much of his content is purely him masturbating over guns.

Little Brother is a vast improvement from Petey Pablo as far as East NC rappers go.

Love the vibe of their tracks, and the lyrics and humor contained in them aren't half bad. I'll keep my ear to the ground and see if they are playing live anywhere near.

I love 'em! The Listening was awesome, The Minstrel Show not so much, but I love the two rappers and love the collabs Phonte does with Nicolay for Foreign Exchange (the latest album "Love In Flying Colors" is a favourite soul LP of this year). There was an unreleased bootleg version of their Chittlin Mixtape that was WAY better than their official release. Real grown-man rap that actually works! Oh, and Phonte's "Charity Begins At Home" was great too!
