RPG Progress Report
Re: RPG Progress Report
@sload I'm in between you and Erik, I think there were some issues, but I don't think it needs to be scrapped entirely, because I think it's fun. Just refined and playtested better.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Completed main story Valkyria Chronicles + most of the skirmishes this week.
Up to Chapter 13 I played only with general tips picked up online (used a FAQ once when my tank was blocking a cut scene from triggering in Chapter 7....argh!
)
At Chapter 13, after a couple hours wasted in pointless JRPG hell, I started using this excellent A rank FAQ. Basically, the FAQ gives you the recipe for attaining A-rank without using Orders or over-using one class of character over the others. (It gives you the build requirements so that you deploy and prep an adequate team. These strategies actually max out the gameplay...especially clever use of Team Attack.) Even if you try to follow the formula step-by-step, it's pretty difficult and involves a good bit of thinking on your feet because everything isn't all spelled out. You can also improvise off the initial set up and still get A-ranks which is also pretty fun. I recommend this FAQ to anyone who liked but did not finish the game...it's class and I wished I'd found it earlier, I actually learned how to play the game better with it.
All in all, was VERY happy with Valkyria Chronicles (massive SRPG nostalgia, appealing characters and great mix of gameplay modes) and look forward to revisiting new game + and playing some of the DLC someday down the road. I'd put this up there with Final Fantasy Tactics for level of personal enjoyment.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Well then. On a more serious note I'll state that I have still been playing Lost Odyssey and Final Fantasy 4. I should be done with FF4 soon and I'm really enjoying it so far. When I'm done I'll probably get the later years. As for Lost Odyssey I've been at it for a while now and when I do play I only get ahead a bit at a time before putting it down for a while. FF4 is too fun right now.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Still working on Xenoblade and SMT IV.
In Xenoblade I just added into my party and am on my way to beat up that .
In Shin Megami Tensei IV I slayed the demon at the and took a break from the main quest to go back and finish up a few overlooked challenge quests I had.
Enjoying the hell out of both games, luckily they're each different enough to provide contrast to prevent me from getting burned out between the two. It's a lot of (fun) work tackling two massive games at once. I'm pretty sure I have quite a long way to go before finishing either, and honestly couldn't be happier.

A couple hours more into The Witcher 2. There are some pretty steamy sex scenes here. While I'm sure they exist in other games I can safely say that this is the first I've played that goes this far. Pubes and all.

Damn I love FFVI.
I've been meaning to play this, but my PC won't run it. Xbox 360 version looks decent though.ZenErik wrote:A couple hours more into The Witcher 2. There are some pretty steamy sex scenes here. I played TW2 on a PC with an Xbox controller and it felt like it had been built for a 360. So I think you'd be fine.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I've been meaning to play this, but my PC won't run it. Xbox 360 version looks decent though.

Re: RPG Progress Report
keyboard + mouse controls are DEFINITELY better for The Witcher 2. But it should still play perfectly fine with a 360 controller. I tried it both ways.Stark wrote:I played TW2 on a PC with an Xbox controller and it felt like it had been built for a 360.
