I took my 3DS with me when I went to a few stores last night. I came home to find I had four street pass hits. Nifty! They all had been playing Animal Crossing, which I found interesting. Maybe it just bases that on the game you have played the most.

Nope, it's the last software they accessed before streetpassing you. Kind of an odd coincidence!

I am using a random microfiber bag to hold my system, but I'd love a red one from the club nintendo store. I hope it comes back in stock.

Had not browsed the eshop in a while, and fired it up last night before bed, and was glad I did, or I would have missed out on the sale of a bunch of indie titles. I ended up picking up Attack of the Friday Monsters, I had been wanting to try this for a while now, even though I heard it was quite short. Also grabbed NightSky, I was going to get Mighty Switch Force 2, but it was only discounted by like $1.50, while this was half price (down from 9.99) so I thought I would take a chance on it. Didnt get a chance to play either yet, my 3ds downloads are so slow in my bedroom, and I just let it download in sleep mode.

Is there a list of 3DS games where the 3D is absolutely necessary? Or strongly preferred? I know the new Zelda supposedly needs the 3D for certain sections. Others?

There are none where it's necessary. I personally have found it helps out a bit on Mario 3D World and surprisingly Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros.

Personally, I keep a mental list of games where I prefer the 3D off. So far it consists of New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3D blurs the background for some reason) and Pokémon X/Y (massive slowdown).

Why would 3D mode cause slowdown? It isn't rendering anything extra. Interesting. Although, I was given the impression that Pokemon X/Y didn't even have 3D mode.

I love the 3D view in these games. It gives a unique feeling. The only game so far where I have had it cause a bit of problem is Animal Crossing. For whatever reason, it is particularly sensitive to viewing angle and sometimes causes ghosting near doorways and such (anywhere with high contrast from dark to light edges).

Otherwise, I have it on for every game, set to the midway point. It's fantastic in Zelda and Mario Kart. I actually feel it is kind of superfluous in Mario 3D Land.

It has to render the same content from two camera angles instead of one, so it does actually cause extra processing.

Pokémon X and Y are 2D only in the overworld sections, but the pokémon battles are in 3D. It's not worth the massive frame rate drop though.

Ghosting is a problem in games with high contrast in general. I noticed it a fair bit in Ocarina of Time 3D as Link's brightly coloured clothes often stood out against the very dark dungeons.

Here's my experience with the demo. I started playing it, thought "eh, this is ok, but not amazing." A short time later, I figured out that I played it for 2.5 hours straight without realizing it. Yeah, it's that good. One thing I like is that the d-pad doubles as a second interface, meaning you can play the game with one hand.
