Okay, okay...Now Lex Luthor and Earth 2 in the mix?

Sure, I flip flopped on Man Of Steel. Hey, sometimes you want to love something that is awful because cognitive dissonance is a thing.

But I'll sound like a broken record and once again say that this franchise seems to be rushed. I'd be fine with a JLA movie in 2020. It's not necessary to have every character have a stand alone movie, but I'd like to see things fleshed out and adding Batman and Wonder Woman (if not more characters) doesn't sit well with me.

Then again, I might flip flop again after the new Supes movie is out.

The AV Club released its best of 2013 list:

http://www.avclub.com/article/the-best- ... 013-200655

I have not seen, and probably will not see, all of these, but I will state that Upstream Color, Computer Chess, and Frances Ha are all really, really good. (Of those three, Computer Chess is my personal favorite.) I also think that Room 237 is available for streaming on Netflix or Hulu+; so, I may try to watch that later this week or next.

Also...and completely unrelated but nonetheless on point:

Seijin Suzuki's:

Image

Youth of the Beast (1963) is now tied with Branded to Kill (1967) as my favorite "yakuza" film. Clearly drawing inspiration from two of my favorite genres - American film noir and French new wave - these films, which are replete with hard-boiled criminals and detectives, beautiful femme fatales, disticntive visuals, and wonderful jazz soundtracks, should not be missed by anyone who is a fan of Japanese cinema. (Fans of Suda51 should also watch these films as his games clearly draw inspiration from them.) Moreover, Seijin Suzuki's groundbreaking, psychadelic style was ahead of its time and remains striking to this day. I cannot recommend these films highly enough, and I think that a few of our film buffs (i.e., Ack and DSH) will really enjoy them.

Not sure, but I know SIDE EFFECTS and BEFORE MIDNIGHT would be on my list.

Wait a minute. I would have put FRANCES HA up there as well but it was a 2012 release. Either way, everyone see FRANCES HA if you haven't. And also watch the Before/After series.

Wait, what?! Earth-2 is gonna be in the Superman/Batman movie?!

SO FREAKING AWESOME!!! OMG I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS NOW!

But that's just the old-school DC fan in me speaking. I'm sure for the casual audience, this is just gonna make things more confusing than it has to be.

If the EARTH 2 storyline comes to fruition, I'm so with you on this. It makes sense to go in that direction and if Lex Luthor ends up being the hero, albeit for a minute, holy crap this movie could be astounding.

But I don't want to get anyone's hopes up as that all I have heard is (from a credible source) "Earth 2 is being treated as a Marvel Phase".

As I've stated, the DC movie Universe is being rushed, but an Earth 2 storyline would be fan freaking tastic. The whole Ben-Man and forced Wonder-Woman cameo could be nothing short of a movie blessing if the writing crew went for an Earth-2 arc.

I can't say that I'm not really, really excited about this news.

Any one know any adult style anime movie (or series if you wish) ? I do not mean anime that looks cartoony but in reality its for adults like Family Guy. I remember I once saw a Street Fighter anime movie which appealed to me but didn't find any other, most adult anime are probably the One Piece kind.

Only if you have eighteen hours to kill.

Seriously, you need a long attention span to sit through all those movies without falling asleep. I would break up the movie viewing across a week. Just watch one movie per night for six nights, then take a day to rest.
When the extended edition of Return of the King came out we did a marathon of all three extended editions (it was during finals week but no one had any finals that day). It took the whole day, but it was awesome. We broke in between TTT and RotK for dinner.

I was planning to watch them over a period of 2 months or more :p , 1 night is insane. When is the last of the Hobbit movies is due?

One Piece is a shonen series. While it's quite popular in general, the target audience is young boys (same as Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, and so on).

There's quite a lot of anime series that skew older, but there's a thread for anime

For films, a couple simple suggestions would be works by Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, Paprika, etc) and Mamoru Oshii (Patlabor, Ghost in the Shell, Jin Roh, etc).

Akira is also not really for kids, but the plot is highly compressed for the movie.

Mary & Max. I'm a big claymation fan and this I have to say has become one of my favorite movies. Good humor and a great story about friendship. I suggest checking it out for sure.

Why would Lex Luthor be the hero, even briefly, if it was set on Earth 2? And isn't Thomas Wayne the batman of earth 2? And Lois Lane is the Red Tornado of that universe now, will that feature? And what about Alan Scotts newly acquired homosexuality? So many questions!

If Earth2 is supposed to be the Earth of Golden Age DC comics, I'd like to see the Earth2 in this movie reference older movies. Wouldn't it be cool to See Michael Keaton or Adam West play Batman on Earth2? Tom Welling or Brandon Routh could play the Superman of Earth2 in lieu of the late Christopher Reeve (Rest in Peace). Lynda Carter could play Wonder Woman on Earth2.

I admit some of these folks are too old to play Super Heroes anymore, but it would make for fun cameos!
