Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) announced for 2014
Re: Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) announced for 2014
This looks like a nice shakeup for the franchise. Sure it's just following the template of the Dynasty Warriors games (which has been driven to the ground), but at least it's a change. Baby steps.

Zelda+Dynasty Warriors?
I'm sold.
Damn, I came so close to getting a Wii-U this holiday, but I got enough of a Christmas bonus from my job that I splurged on a PS 4. Not that I regret that, but the Wii-U is looking more and more interesting to me. I'm going to have to save up for one

I don't think that's what's happening, more like "It's still taking a while, have some other Zelda related thingy in the mean time."Xeogred wrote:It'll be fun for an hour max!
I'll never get this franchise.
And Zelda is my favorite.
So if this is stalling/blocking a real Zelda release, I'm pissed!

It's being developed by Tecmo Koei, so Nintendo's own development should be completely unaffected I'd think. I'm sure they'll keep a sharp eye on the game regardless. They don't often just hand out their IP to 3rd party developers without watching over it like a hawk. Usually turns out alright. Luigi's Mansion 3DS anybody? That was developed by a Canadian studio, Next Level Games.
Looking at the trailer, the fact it only has a working title right now, I'd wager it's probably still pretty early on in development. It gives us an idea of what it will be, but, I think it's far too early to call judgement. Skepticism is warranted and justifiable for sure, however, completely writing it off is probably a bit much.

Seeing a game like this being made just makes me want to point a finger and laugh at all the people in the West who still mock the Dynasty Warriors franchise as being worthless and garbage

Still waiting on more Star Fox Adventures...
OR WAIT
How about more STAR FOX PERIOD! The one series they had that was practically made for motion controls, go figure it misses that train and what the heck Nintendo. lol

This is the most notable thing to happen to the 'musou genre' of games in somewhere around a decade. It's a tired genre that offers nearly the exact same experience in every iteration. It seems like an incredibly poor use of the Zelda IP: The combination offers nothing to bolster, and everything to harm its integrity.GSZX1337 wrote:Can you elaborate on this?pierrot wrote:This sounds like a really bad/stupid idea to me.
This partnering only really helps Koei, and the musou brand; and I'm sure everyone will shift from FPS to period hack-n-slash as the next video game glitz, after this is released, just to spite me.

What series is next?
When will the novelty thin out?
It's practically another LEGO games case at this point.
I haven't played any of the main DW games since the PS2 titles though and have heard good things about 7. Maybe I'll check it out sometime. And enjoy it for... an hour!
If only these games had God Hand level combat.
