I plan to replay it once I buy an actual cart.
Re: RPG Progress Report
I plan to finish it in 2014. I made it to the circus but set the game aside to go play stuff that was, you know, good.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I plan to replay it once I buy an actual cart.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I have a tough time getting back into RPGs if I take a long break.
Anyway, I don't plan on playing any RPGs until 2014.... where it shall be Phantasy Star Online followed by Ogre Battle.

Further into the abyss in DD:DA. Some freakishly hard versions of monsters down here. And death. Actual Death with the scythe and everything. Had to bring in some sturdier pawns to help defeat a thirty-foot tall beholder.
Are you still planning on playing PSO single player? I think I might have to do the same if I join in that month.BoneSnapDeez wrote: Anyway, I don't plan on playing any RPGs until 2014.... where it shall be Phantasy Star Online followed by Ogre Battle.

I bought Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion and two other Legend of Heroes games from some guy a couple months ago. Have yet to play them, and probably won't until I stop being lazy and finish the Ys III remake.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion
Finished it.
An okay game. Cute characters, some funny scenes, easy to pick up and play... but damn are there some boring sections.
TitS is about 100 times better.

I still need to pick up Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch and Song of the Ocean, but they're stupidly expensive now.TheSSNintendo wrote: I bought Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion and two other Legend of Heroes games from some guy a couple months ago. You realize the PSP games were localized out of order, right?

I'd argue that collecting hearts is a system of leveling.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Only really because it drastically changed the tenor compared to earlier installments in the series. It's the only BoF game to really attempt innovating, and I personally feel it succeeded, unquestionably. It's also one of the more challenging (if not one of the most challenging) RPGs of the 5th-8th gen. The gameplay is a great blend of RPG mechanics, with some design choices that recall classic Capcom survival horror, which marries perfectly with the setting, and the story in general.Sload Soap wrote:I've been lead to believe that Dragon Quarter is a very divisive with some mechanics that people loathe.
A lot of people bemoan the SOL system and the D-counter: The former is in the game expressly to add content/re-playability (of which DQ has plenty) and make an otherwise impossible game for some much more manageable. The D-counter is a handicap, plain and simple. It can be the player's best friend in a pinch, and his worst enemy when used as a crutch.
Considering that the SOL system is pretty much the basis for what appears to be a very popular game in Rogue Legacy, I have to question DQ's lack of success; but what has been fairly clear to me is that roughly 2/3 of people who play Dragon Quarter will give up on it too early because of its challenge, and the other 1/3 will generally be better people for the experience.
I may be aggrandizing slightly, but the point remains that anyone who enjoys strategic RPG battles with a smattering of survival gameplay, a tremendous musical score by Sakimoto Hitoshi, excellent replay value in the Ant Colony/Kokon Horay/D-rank/Locked areas/SOL scenarios, and one of the most inspired stories the JRPG genre has to offer, owes it to himself to pick up BoF Dragon Quarter. None of these aspects can be attributed to any of the other BoF games. (Or most other JRPGs.)
That said, BoF III is all right.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I am playing the Barbarian, and she is a Demon Hunter. It seems to be a trend when we play co-op rpgs, I run up and distract everything and she does the long range, trap-laying stuff (She always rolls a Ranger in PSO).Wispmage wrote:I've had much the same experience playing with my girlfriend off and on since it's release, though we're playing the PC version. It is a blast, and gets even better once your characters reach higher levels and get all their skills. What classes are you both playing?dunpeal2064 wrote:Also playing Diablo III co-op with the gf. We just downed Belial and entered Act III. I've been pleasantly surprised by this game. Its not a life-sucking Wow-esk adventure, but more of a great Champions-esk couch co-op. Having a blast with it, and the lady has been wanting to play it just about every day, which is a huge plus. This is basically our new Gauntlet/PSO.
We ended up finishing out Act III last night (which seemed to fly by), and since we were in the final act, we decided to go all the way, and took Diablo down! To my surprise, she said that she would be down to start up a Nightmare run, after a short break.
Our Diablo sessions have pretty much halted my Ys progress though. Luckily, today is my friday, so I should at least have time to finish the first book up.
I did pick up Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God, as something to play while I'm at work. This is my first rogue-like, and it seems an appropriate place to start. The story and characters are... very strange, but the game is very fun.
