Our resident fact checker is on the ball. That was fast.

You're right. That one's expensive. Gotta love Blockbuster exclusives. *cough* Hagane *cough*
SFC solves the latter's problem entirely.

After Sculptor's Cut, the most expensive is Conker's Bad Fur Day, coming in around $65-ish.

If your suggesting a GBA you might want to tell him about the game boy player for the GC if he hasn't heard of it yet. They are rare but not to extremely expensive at the moment. Just be sure that he knows a start up disc is required or else he might buy one of the thousands of paperweights on ebay :P.

Ho ho problem, GBA is 32-bit. Not gonna work.

I'd suggest SNES simply because it has the best library IMO. Either that or NES. With SNES you can decide to get original Game Boy cartridges too with a Super Game Boy if he decides to do so.

Brought it up last page only downside to the Super Gameboy is you can only play GB and a few GBC games. The Gamboy Player on the GC can play GB,GBC, and GBA.

With a blurry bilinear filter over the whole thing in 480i that is (shudders).

Super Game Boy also brings enhancements to certain games like Donkey Kong '94 and Kirby's Dream Land that doesn't work on the Game Boy Player.

Yes, but a GameCube + GBP you don't have access to SNES games. ;)

Well he called out due to the snow storm were having. More like 6 inches. I did text him and he's told me he's going for something that made me do this in order  :?. I asked him why? He text me saying I always brag on how good the dreamcast is and its so cheap to collect for. Now I have competition to get games with someone at work. wtf?
He's also buying the snes. I also told him to register here on racketboy and there will be a lot of people here to help him out with suggestions and reviews and everything else.
