Getting an XRGB Mini Wii, PS2, and DC Questions

Post by Jamisonia »

Namely, can this 3 work with it, and if so, how so? I've read the XRGB Mini does not directly work with YPbPr, which means the Wii won't work with Component Cables. Can I use the Japanese D Terminal Cable on a NA Wii?

PS2 wise I have component cables for it, I know you can switch it to RGB in the menu, so is it simply a matter of getting it from the component cables into the XRGB Mini?

I've heard the DC's VGA output is slightly wrong for the XRGB Mini? Any incite on this?

Thanks.

D terminal is the exact same as Component all you need is an adapter like this http://www.solarisjapan.com/d-terminal- ... le-female/

I use it and it works perfectly with the wii component cables, havn't tried ps2 though but I'm sure it works too

unfortunately the XRGB-mini doesn't support VGA, the best you will get out of the dreamcast would be RGB scart. unless you got like a vga to component adapter but that would be rather expensive.

Oh, yes now I see the mistake I made. The XRG Mini doesn't work with YPbPr through the RGB input, but it does through the D-Terminal input, so an adapter like that is all I need. Gotcha. Now I feel like an idiot.

Actually if you wire up a sync combiner and a quick VGA-to-Scart adapter, it'll work on the RGB input. Xrgb accepts 31khz RGB signals on that line. Been meaning to do this myself, but I haven't gotten around to it.

Micomsoft has hinted at making and selling a VGA adapter with a sync combiner built into it that would plug right into the RGB input on the front for Dreamcast. Hope they put that out soon.

Also, you might want to re-wire the RGB Scart dongle. It's wired for Japanese RGB21 and not the normal European SCART standard. It's easier to get the Euro scart cables, so yeah. Thankfully, unlike the Xrgb-3, plugging European scart won't kill that port on the system, it just won't work.
