Re: CGR is leaving Youtube
Lots of consoles that get shit on actually have really good game libraries. Virtual Boy isn't bad either.
Re: CGR is leaving Youtube
I've not spent enough time with the full library yet, but here is some discussion of games worth picking up: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... =6&t=39235noiseredux wrote:@dsh: Since you've now also got a complete 7800 set, care to give us a similar breakdown?
Hopefully I can add to it in time.
Re: CGR is leaving Youtube
Every console has a worthwhile library. But preference comes into play. As do ones standards for a console worth owning. And how much you value certain games. Like I find the PS3 worth owning for Project DIVA, Child of Eden, and BlazBlue alone. Granted, there are plenty of other games I enjoy on it. But I would take a PS3 with only the latest BlazBlue, Project DIVA F, and Child of Eden over a Wii or Wii U with EVERY SINGLE GAME that exists for those platforms. Just my preference.
But other people love Mario, Zelda, SSB, etc more than anything. So they'd take a Wii or Wii U with only those games over a PS3 or 360 with every single game available.
Eh, maybe I'm just babbling.

Admittedly though, it does also have Waterworld...BoneSnapDeez wrote:Lots of consoles that get shit on actually have really good game libraries. Virtual Boy isn't bad either.
And regardless of how much proportional garbage may have appeared on the Nintendo 64(though I'm willing to bet, much like other consoles, there are many more great and good games than people realize), I would still rather have one than a 32X. Perhaps it is nostalgia, though I've felt a lot of joy exploring the N64's library as an adult too. I like the N64. Yes, its controller is weird, and yes, some of my favorite genres are underrepresented(or are erroneously believed to be so), and yes, early 3D can be very visually jarring. But it was a new era, there were mistakes to be made, and there are also a lot of surprising successes.

a couple of years ago somebody gave me an N64 for free. I couldn't get it out of my house fast enough.

No helping bad taste I suppose.dsheinem wrote:truthnoiseredux wrote:a couple of years ago somebody gave me an N64 for free. I couldn't get it out of my house fast enough.

The N64 is the one Nintendo console I have never had the slightest interest in owning. All my of SSB/LoZ loving friends love to defend it, but for whatever reason I just have no interest in the thing. I'll take a broken PS1 or Saturn over a perfectly working N64 any day.

N64 is a good multiplayer system; although if I had to choose I'd probably rather play Blackthorne and Space Harrier than Mario and Zelda.
