There are many contrarians on this forum including myself and I've never had anyone jump on my throat, the reason people react poorly to your posts is that, well, you come across as a dick.

You can argue that the DS is a bad console. That's fair, if extremely debatable. To claim that playing on one "isn't really gaming" is a dick move and dishing the Wii U when you have never played will make people think worse of you. That's a fact, and the onus is on you to come across as a reasonable person.

I've argued that game criticism is awful, that JRPGs are severly flawed, that the SNES has a poor library, that Toe Jam & Earl is terrible, that Hal Life 2 has terrible pacing and Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines is practically unfinished and that any Tetris post-Worlds is broken and I haven't been attacked.

You should really consider that going against the grain requires an extra dose of carefulness. If you know that your opinion is controversial, try to come across better instead of bludgeoning people with it.
Saying I come across as a dick is really stupid. I know it can kind of be for both sexes but originally wasn't that insult for oh idk...men? Off topic but yeah..
But if he said "makes you come across as a vagina" it doesn't sound quite right. Or pussy either because then it would mean something different

Anyways...just because I don't put my opinion nicely doesn't mean i'm trying to be a dick...it means I state what I think, in the way I want to because it's my opinion and my choice. I still think compaired to the Gameboys that the DS is still...kinda shit. It's filled with crappy kids games and shovelware, same goes for the Wii and Wii U. Why I said something along the lines of playing on the DS isn't really gaming is because, A. Mostly kids have the DS (at least around here), B. It's so simple my 3 year old cousin figured out how to play one (which reminds me of those stupid leapfrog or leappads they give kids these days), C. Filthy Casuals play the hell out of the DS (And Wii...and Wii U). These "consoles" were and are aimed at kids, familys, older people. If that doesn't scream Filthy Casuals idk what does.

But that's besides the point I was trying to make. No matter how I or anyone states their opinion on this forum, NO one should attack them the way that I was attacked. I remember being attacked on this forum so badly that I was very close to just leaving the forum. I even went so far as to start blocking people. You might not have been attacked by stating your opinion because you made it "friendly", but I don't sugar coat my opinions. I speak my mind. But what kind of forum attacks someone for speaking their minds?
Look, this is really simple.

If you don't want combative responses, don't make combative posts. If you don't want to antagonize people, don't act antagonistic. If you don't want people to pick apart your arguments, make better arguments.

Really, "sugar coating"? Backing up strong assertions with valid arguments is "sugar coating" now? Dave for example actually has outright called systems and games "shit" and "overrated," the difference is that he backs up his views with assertions that demonstrate that he is actually familiar enough with what he's criticizing to make valid points.

When you make a claim like "Everything on DS is licensed filthy casual shit for kids and not real gaming" or whatever, you get called out on it because that statement is blatantly demonstrably false. What it says to people is that you don't actually know much about the library or why, say, the members here who do love the system enjoy it. (Hint: it's not because they're into licensed throwaway titles) Again, if you don't want to get called out on bad arguments, make better arguments.

We don't expect (nor do we want) this forum to be a hivemind where everyone agrees on everything, but we do expect people to at least try to back up their assertions with good arguments that at the very least demonstrate familiarity with what they're criticizing. If you don't want to actually discuss your views, what's the point in posting them?

And lastly, if kids enjoying it, it being easy to pick up and play (even for 3 year olds), and the target audience being children + families makes the DS "filthy casual shit" and "not real gaming," what does that makes the NES?

This forum has opinions that are considered the "norm"? Since when? A few years ago I would've said that the norm opinion was Sega > Nintendo, but even that's changed as we've gotten more Nintendo fans here.

Umm, yes, yes it does?

I have this hunch that this is not the first forum that has told you to cut it off and I doubt you will ever learn so...

That was probably me. I stand by that assertion and will hold to the argument that the 32X has one of the best ratios of good games to bad games in the history of gaming
I don't know about that. But I hate the N64. And Sega is awesome.
It's easy to have 8/9 good games when there are only 40. Thing is, those 8/9 good games aren't even that great to begin with. I'd rather have an N64 with only Ogre Battle 64 than a 32X with its entire library.

Well looks like all of CGR vids are on dailymotion as well, even his latest one. And OMG im loving dailymotion! I can actually watch videos and it never stops on 480p! For the last few weeks i've had to watch all YT vids on the PS3 app because YT on PC is so fucking slow! I hope my other favorite channels make the move too.

Thank you for this post.
I think there are more than 8 or 9 games that are good in the 32X library. An old post of mine:
I can look at the 32X and easily see the best 16-bit era versions of these excellent arcade games:

After Burner
Space Harrier
Virtua Fighter
Virtua Racing
Mortal Kombat II
Primal Rage
NBA Jam TE
Star Wars Arcade (exclusive)

In addition, there are good number of non-arcade ports of quality games for the system that were the best 16-bit versions of their day:

Doom
Blackthorne
World Series Baseball
Pitfall The Mayan Adventure
Night Trap

And of course, some of the exclusives worth checking out:

Tempo
Knuckles Chaotix
Kolibri
Shadow Squadron
Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000

That is a little over half the system's library, and really no chaff in that wheat. Do some of the other titles suck? Yes. Others are very much hit and miss, depending on your preference. But I can't think of another console (or add-on) with such a high percentage of its library being worth playing.

@dsh: Since you've now also got a complete 7800 set, care to give us a similar breakdown?
