Just stating my opinion. It's not like crappy "reviews" are being swept off the Internet, just youtube. All you have to do to find them is seek them out.
Not like I agree with what you said since I like reviewers but I have to say that this forum is horrible if you happen to have an opinion that differs from the "norm". Like when I said I hate all RPG's and so on...I got extreme backlash from that. Or the time I said the Wii and the DS were shit and the Wii U is just a newer form of shit.

I guess what this forum doesn't understand is everyone is going to have different opinions. Like how you don't like reviews but I do. It's your opinion and your free to say it.
When did you say no one else should play RPGs? That's akin to what Luke said.

I think both of you should stop hating on things and just not play/watch them. Say for example: I don't like Luke's new shoes. Have I said anything? No, because that would be rude and I don't enjoy raining on people's parades.

Mark's videos are well produced, and have introduced me to a variety of neat games that I wouldn't have given much thought to otherwise. I don't see him as incredibly biased, or to my knowledge "paid off" by companies. He seems like a cool dude and like other posters that like him, his personality and style of show appeal to me. CGR provides me entertainment, if you don't like it, don't watch it. I don't have much of an opinion about AVGN, doesn't mean I go off the deep end by being spiteful, condescending and hoping he loses his livelihood.

Luke, mark me in the "Thank God" category that cotton prices are going up. Because surely there's enough yarn producers out there. The market is flooded with grandmothers that sell their shitty knitted scarves at Sunday craft shows. Good riddance.

For shame. Off-color humor about working at abortion clinics and asserting you're the foremost authority on what people should and shouldn't enjoy. We don't rain on your parade about smoking cigars and hamming it up at the open bar with your chamber of commerce chaps and we don't feel the need to chime in about how your neighbor is shitting up your lawn with a new blacktop. We don't have anything constructive to provide, so there's no purpose of contributing. You've provided no compelling argument and squirmed from backing it up in any of the previous 15 pages of this black hole of a thread.

I have my fair share of qualms about YouTube. I detest that I'm held hostage by fifteen second advertisements anytime I want to check out a two-minute clip on my hobby just about every damn video. This latest BS just adds fuel to the flames. If I can go to CGR's website and get a better experience, then it's not going to pain me to visit another site. I still feel bad for the people who might just be getting that big break and now they'll have to reconsider if it's worth their while.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and there is an unpopular gaming opinions thread which is very long and full of contrary opinions.

The problem, as has been mentioned before, is your delivery of said opinions. For example, saying "I do not like RPGs, they just aren't for me" is perfectly fine and several members here share that opinion.

However, most of your posts go like: 'RPGs are shit, I cannot believe anyone wastes their time playing them, and those that do are stupid' Not quoting exactly, but that's generally the vibe. You also make these sweeping statements like saying the DS is shit, which you now like, on very limited exposure. I think you said you only played a few games and thus the console was shit. The more appropriate statement would be: I have yet to find a DS game I enjoy.

See the difference?

Luke would've had a lot less backlash had he said: "Well no big loss to me, I don't like youtube reviews" I like discussing various topics with Luke, and call him out often enough, but I try not to belittle or patronize those who may like that thing. I will say that isnt my experience or I dont like them myself, but I wont try and say someone is horrible or lacks taste for liking something that isnt my tastes as if their personal opinion and likes were the standard for everyone to follow. Would be a pretty bland world if only things we personally liked were allowed to exist.

That being said, there is a lot potential for good discussion concerning the legality and impact of this decision. Unfortunately it has been more of the former and less of the latter.

I can't understand why you would get "extreme backlash" for that, at all.

There are many contrarians on this forum including myself and I've never had anyone jump on my throat, the reason people react poorly to your posts is that, well, you come across as a dick.

You can argue that the DS is a bad console. That's fair, if extremely debatable. To claim that playing on one "isn't really gaming" is a dick move and dishing the Wii U when you have never played will make people think worse of you. That's a fact, and the onus is on you to come across as a reasonable person.

I've argued that game criticism is awful, that JRPGs are severly flawed, that the SNES has a poor library, that Toe Jam & Earl is terrible, that Hal Life 2 has terrible pacing and Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines is practically unfinished and that any Tetris post-Worlds is broken and I haven't been attacked.

You should really consider that going against the grain requires an extra dose of carefulness. If you know that your opinion is controversial, try to come across better instead of bludgeoning people with it.

My theory. People don't like that other people earn money by making the things they love to do.

My friend got flagged for music videos that he put up on his channel of bands that he manages. The situation is out of hand right now, and I know he's just one of many dealing with this crap.
