It is so worth it. Healthy amount to PSN games that are available now and the near future and great retail games to delve into. RPGs, platformers like the two Rayman games, fun pick-up and play games like Unit 13.
I'd get that amazon bundle because it is the original release of the hardware. Although not available in the states yet the VITA 2000 does away with the beautiful OLED screen.

I don't think you can beat Nintendo for handheld games that are just pick up and play, but the Vita is amazing hardware and library wise (and yes that's without a PS3/4.) Like Dave I've had these systems about the same amount of time and have spent way more time with the Vita because of games like Persona 4 and Uncharted and I've not even got other time sucks like Dragon's Crown yet!

My goodness yes. The Vita is an amazing handheld with so many quality games. The problem is that if you want these good games you have to go to the internet because Gamestop has a very weak selection. Dragons Crown, Ragnarok Odyssey, Mod Nation Racer, and PSABR are a few of my favorites.
I am buying all Saturn games, PM me with your offerings and I will let you know if I need the game or not! (Everything must be CIB)
Currently trying to knock off all the sports games, would like to get them <$5 each! Of course if you would like to donate them I will gladly pay the shipping!

Subpar? Everything I've heard about it sounds great. It's got tons of great reviews already and it's not even out in the US yet, which tells me that a lot of people were just dying to play this and couldn't wait. It's a game I plan on pre-orderingZenErik wrote:A new Square Enix subpar RPG? Ehh, no thanks.Retrogamer0001 wrote:I've actually been disappointed with the Vita library so far, especially considering all the hype over it when it was released. Every time I take a look at the Vita game section at my local EB, I just shake my head and wonder. Not only that, but compare the game library to that of the 3DS - it's no contest. The 3DS has an absolutely fantastic library of games, and if you're considering an 8th-gen handheld, that's the one I would recommend. Bravely Default, being released in February, is a game I'm particularly excited for.
That said, I'll echo other people's sentiments. The Vita has great games. And honestly, going by my particular tastes I've found the 3DS and the Vita to pretty much match each other with regard to the number of games I've found that I want to play. I greatly enjoy the Vita more as a piece of hardware though. The touch functionality is so much better (I hate having to hold a stupid stylus all the time) and the screen is of course far better, which makes Netflix actually worth a damn on Vita (rather than being a useless app on the 3DS)

Too bad we can't flash an Android ROM on the Vita. Maybe Sony's next handheld will be Andy-compatible, enabling sideloading of interesting apps such as emulators and ports of old games.... Actually that wouldn't be Sony if they did it.

Well as of now Playstation Mobile can run on quite a few android compatible devices including tablets and phones. You need to download PSM runtime for the VITA to play PSM games. Maybe someone can figure out a way to exploit it for some emulation and homebrewing fun.

As an owner of both 3DS XL and Vita, I like the hardware of Vita much more (I never used the 3D effects), and I would say Vita does have a solid library of its own, thou it can't really match up to Nintendo's IP.
But PSN is the really deal here, and add PS+ to your Vita (along with PS3/4), you get more for your money. Right now, UC:Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, and WipEout 2048 are the default free games (all are owned by Sony), and you can now download Miami Hotline and Soul Sacrifice for free.
Yet, I can't never stress this over and over again, the Vita has a much higher starter cost than the 3DS: you definitely need at least a 16GB mc - you won't realize how fast you will use 8GB of space.
It does come down on how much you want to be in the Sony eco-system.

Re: Vita - Worth it Without a PS4/PS3?
I like plenty of Nintendo games, but it's not like those Nintendo IPs - especially modern versions - are way better than everything on Vita. I prefer the Sony library, as I did last gen, but they're very comparable.
If you ask me, the best games on Nintendo consoles are often third-party too. If I had to choose between the new Zelda or keeping Shinobi and Kokuga, missing Zelda would be a no-brainer.
Not even Nintendo or Sega were able to define their systems' libraries in the golden age.

Does PSN+ give you free Vita games like it does with PS3?
If so, does it give you free PSP games as well?
