I might be wrong, but I have hard time believing the NWA still exists.

I just looked them up, how do you expect me to recognize people who spent their lifetime doing indie federation shows. I am pretty much sure over 90% of wrestling fans are not aware of them too. In fact I think over 80% of wrestling fans are WWE fans only.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I'm pretty down on WWE right now, as a lot of people are going by a lot podcasts and blogs I follow. Even Steve Austin and Jim Ross have criticized the current product(Jim Ross can actually do that now). However, I have to comment on two things from tonight's Raw as I''m two hours into watching it
Bray Wyatt. I think it's common knowledge that he's good on the mic, but after seeing his promo to Daniel Bryan tonight I honestly think he's the best promo in the WWE right now. I think the only guy on his level is Paul Heyman. And that's heavy praise. Some guys almost seem too good for wrestling with their promo ability and I think Wyatt is at that level with his current character.
Along that same line of thought, Punk's backstage interview with Renee Young felt a LOT like a Paul Heyman promo. Him breaking into song about being pretty and gay is the kind of insanity we've seen from Heyman in recent months. The guy must have rubbed off on him.
So I enjoyed Punk and Wyatt's verbal work tonight

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Just want to say that I loved the big (pardon my french) fuck you the crowd gave Triple H, Orton and Cena on Raw. They made it very clear who they wanted in the main event on Sunday. And while you could say that it was simply a home town reaction, a lot of wrestling podcasts I've been listening to this week (especially the PWTorch) are in agreement that the crowd on Raw this week is indicative of the way a lot of WWE fans are feeling right now
Bryan is, to use one of the Rock's favorite lines, the "People's Champ" and it's time WWE starting treating him like it. He's the new Rock, the new Hogan, the new Cena, the new Austin (who sang Bryan's praises on his own podcast by the way) and WWE is either too stupid or too stubborn to see it.
Bryan is "the guy"

For an adult, you take the wrestling business too seriously . Do you work in that industry?
If fans wanted Bryan, they should vote with their dollar. Stop watching RAW, stop buying PPVs, stop logging on their website. You really want to make them feel bad? Watch TNA and buy TNA PPVs , the minute the news report that TNA viewership is on the rise and the WWE is going down the faster they will change their tactics.
When arenas are sold out and the PPVs are highly lucrative , the only thing the WWE is thinking is " We are on the right track" .

I only watch TNA.
Not to say TNA is perfect, by any means. But it sure is hell better than the drivel WWE feeds us week in and week out. And WWE has made it loud and clear they do what THEY WANT, not what the fans want. While TNA may drop the ball sometimes, at least they do try to cater to the fans.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I am not sure why WWE and TNA are both failing at pushing new guys , I know for sure TNA is trying to push young talent but they are no where near making them stars as big the stars of the WWF/WCW back in the day. In fact, I think even people who worked in places like ECW such as Sandman, TAZ, Dudley Boys, all had better "Stardom" , if I may say so, over people like Abyss , James Storm, and Hernandez .
The last batch of superstars were created in the end of the Attitude era like Cena, Hardy, and Mysterio.

A.J. Styles may not be an Austin or a Hogan, but I'd put him alongside the likes of Hardy and Mysterio. But for the most part, you're right. He's an exception.RCBH928 wrote:I am not sure why WWE and TNA are both failing at pushing new guys , I know for sure TNA is trying to push young talent but they are no where near making them stars as big the stars of the WWF/WCW back in the day. Re: The Wrestling Thread
Mysterio was never a huge star. He has zero charisma and only gets cheers because kids and Latino people like him. Del Rio was supposed to be his replacement, but Del Rio is about as exciting as mud and has never really gotten over, just like I said he wouldn't since he first entered the WWE even as everyone on the internet was talking about him like he was the future of the company or something.RCBH928 wrote:I am not sure why WWE and TNA are both failing at pushing new guys , I know for sure TNA is trying to push young talent but they are no where near making them stars as big the stars of the WWF/WCW back in the day. Hardy is just a remnant of the Attitude era. The only real stars the WWE has deliberately created since the Attitude era ended are Cena, Orton, and Batista. Punk and Bryan on the other hand, have become huge stars IN SPITE of the WWE. That's one of the reasons why so many people like them, because we feel like WE made them stars.
They've been trying to hold Daniel Bryan down since day one it feels like but the cream always rises to the top and fans recognized his talent and FORCED the WWE to make him a star. In fact, after the constant Daniel Bryan and Yes chants on last weeks Raw and during the pay per view (where the crowd interrupted Stephanie McMahon's promo about Cena and Orton with Yes chants), it looks like they have inserted Bryan back into the title picture this week. He had an epic, 25 minute match with Orton and the crowd was going nuts
I'm hopeful that this bodes well for Bryan's future. The latest rumors are that WWE are trying to convince HBK to have a Mania match with Bryan and aren't interested in Michaels coming out of retirement for any other reason. Also, Jim Ross said on a recent blog that he thinks Bryan may be the definitive best wrestler in the business today.
It feels like WWE doesn't know how to create stars any more, so we're doing their jobs for them. When guys like Punk and Bryan are getting huge reactions week after week, WWE has no choice but to make them into stars whether they like it or not. The fans pretty much hijacked the closing segment of last week's Raw just to let Vince and Triple H know that they want Bryan in the main event scene and will not be satisfied until that happens. It's just an awesome thing to witness when WWE fans stop just accepting whatever garbage WWE feeds them and start trying to call the shots themselves. It kind of feels like everyone who is sick of everything wrong with the current WWE product has been rallying behind Bryan as representing every thing that WWE SHOULD be about right now
