Random Gaming Thoughts
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
That really depends on the specs of the laptop and the settings you're running the game at. As a general rule, you're not likely to run a game at high settings if your lappy was bought at a Best Buy. There are laptops that'll tear games a new one, but it'll do the same to your wallet.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Short answer - for modern games, yes. If you have an integrated chipset that is.TheGregzilla wrote:Is a laptop just useless for PC gaming?
If you have a high-end gaming laptop (like an Asus Republic of Gamers or Alienware) then that's a whole different story. But I'm assuming you have a stock HP or Dell or whatever.
That said - laptops can be great for retro gaming. I've used mine for emulation and as a DOSBox machine.

It should. I'd reckon compatibility issues. It is an old game.Thats all I have and my PC collection is 0. Not for lack of PC games I like, but for lack of PC games that run smooth enough to bother with. My laptop is fairly new (maybe 2.5 years old) and Age of Empires 2 wont even run smoothly on it. Specs-wise I know my laptop isnt great, but come on, I think any computer should be able to run games that came out 5-6 years before it.
Older. Not wiser.

Thats the frustrating part, too stock for new games, not compatible with old games. It seems to be a lose/lose.

Dicked around some more tonight.BoneSnapDeez wrote: I've spent the last hour trying to get the Win 95/98 versions of Sonic CD, 3D Blast, and Sonic & Knuckles to work on my Win 7 PC. Utter failure. Thankfully I have a Win 98 PC in the closet here.
Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic CD are up and running on Windows 7! I'm very excited, as I don't own Sonic CD for the Sega CD. Seems like a great game so far.
Still no luck with 3D Blast. I'm over it.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yeah I've only owned a Sega CD for a few years - I've mainly used it for the Working Designs RPGs. Never got around to picking up Sonic CD. Never tried it in an emulator either.
Just beat Robotnik in his first form (level 3). Now a little Sonic girl has been kidnapped.
Really cool game. After playing Sonic & Knuckles I always wished there was "one more Sonic game" and, uh, apparently this is it.
Anyway, no more posts for me until I beat it. Lemmings and Legend of Heroes have officially been put on hold.

It is hilarious watching people that are used to M&KB play with a controller, and then bitch about how bad it is. While M&KB is often superior, a skilled player with a controller can be pretty damn good.
