Nice stuff.

And I hate to admit it, but my game room normally looks like that - I've run out of shelf space.

This piece articulates a lot about what I want to convey when people apply the words "geek" and "nerd" to something nowadays. Also Big Bang Theory fans -_-...

I agree. The terms have lost all meaning and negative connotations. Nowadays, when I am knocking books out of people's hands, terrorizing them in gym class, and stuffing them in lockers, I just stick with term "loser". Nobody likes being one of those.

Yea, I suppose many words take on new meanings and connotations over time. I mean, in the 1800s into the early 1900s, calling someone a pimp used to be a heavy handed insult.

But yea, I don't think... no matter how someone spins it nowadays, I will ever hear the word nerd or geek and be able to reconcile is as a 'compliment' or 'term of endearment'. I'm now a product of a bygone era where geeks and nerds were today's losers and lamers.

Speaking of, i09 did a small piece on the origins of nerd, geek, and more.

Still, I'd tend to agree, some meanings do change over time.

Speaking of defining someone, Wayne Gretzky is the Wayne Gretzky of hockey.

I am violently ill today. Tried to sleep and couldn't. I'm in the bathroom, sitting on the toilet with a bucket at my feet, plus a jug of water and my laptop on the counter.

How many of you guys have experienced diarrhea and nausea at the same time? It really is an interesting sensation.

I have. In my case the toilet was close enough to the tub that I didn't bother with a bucket.
