I don't really want to see the franchise outlive Leslie Nielsen basically. He is Police Squad/Naked Gun as far as I'm concerned.

I dread the day someone announces a Back to the Future remake. I feel like it's inevitable.

You know, there would be a small silver lining if the remake took place in 2015 and had its protagonist accidentally get sent back to 1985. Wouldn't be enough to make it a good idea in the slightest, but that prospect would make me crack a smile.

It feels odd to think that they would have to start working on the remake really, really soon to make the 2015 deadline. (It is also strange to think that 2015 is as far removed from 1985 as 1985 is from 1955.) Weren't we supposed to have hoverboards by now?

Yeah, I feel the difference between 55 and 85 is more vast than that of 85-2015

We still don't have Hoverboards, self-lacing shoes, flying cars, 10 Jaws sequels, hologram movies, dust-free paper, home pizza hydrators, mountains of laserdiscs bundled up in alleys, to-the-second accurate weather, self-drying jackets, tiny car mountable portable fusion reactors, or Wild Gunman arcade cabinets.

We do have 16:9 wall-mountable TVs though.

I don't know, 1985 is a pre-internet, pre-cell phone world. That alone counts for some seriously major stuff.

I suspect the reason the 80s don't feel so far away is because so many regular users of this forum actually remember being there.
