I don't know why this is such a surprise to everyone. Luke's a hater, this is nothing new. 50% of it may be truth, and 50% of it is because he loves getting a rise out of people and arguing.

Clearly you've never watched CGR. This is exactly what CGR is and people hail it as the best review show on the internet.Hobie-wan wrote:Making a decent review video isn't just recording the first 5 minutes of the game and rambling unprepared in front of the camera, mixing those together and clicking upload

I like it because he pumps out so many reviews. Not because they're amazing. (I also like his sense of humor, a little.) I usually get a couple new reviews a day between the original CGR and CGRUndertow. It's just a neat little thing to look forward to every day.brunoafh wrote:Clearly you've never watched CGR. Do you work in an abortion clinic? I mean, looking forward to that must make a dismal life.BurningDoom wrote: It's just a neat little thing to look forward to every day.

This would, by definition, make it an "obscure" system, right?brunoafh wrote:It actually did have a fairly large global following, it just didn't really take off in the West.AppleQueso wrote:MSX2 was huge in Japan, sure, but is pretty small if we're talking globally, and it's virtually unknown outside of specific gaming circles. Seriously, how many gamers, even among retro forums, can even name you any MSX exclusives besides the Metal Gears?
Hell, I'd say the average poster here knows precious little about the Commodore 64 - which was released in the West and is the bestselling computer of all time - let alone the MSX. Only a very small circle of gamers care about 8-bit computers.
The market dictates these things. There is a demand for internet videos, video game related or otherwise. The creators make money through ad revenue, endorsements, etc. It is, in fact, a "job" - whether you think it's a worthwhile endeavor is a whole different topic.Retrogamer0001 wrote:Sorry, I'll never consider reviewing video games on Youtube to be "work" - to me, it falls into the category of "profitable hobby". I'm sure there is a certain amount of effort that goes into producing videos (for a few people, not all, considering some folks only put out a new video once a month) but for the most part, this isn't a situation where people are working 40 hours a week, or even 40 a month.

Turns out the reason doing this was because MCN'S(Multi Channel Networks) were not doing there job's. And now MCN's are making a lot of there channel affiliates.

Obscure home computers would be like weird Hong Kong stuff that nobody has heard of. MSX was one of the most popular machines of the era, its not obscure in its context.BoneSnapDeez wrote:This would, by definition, make it an "obscure" system, right?brunoafh wrote: It actually did have a fairly large global following, it just didn't really take off in the West.
Maybe I should make a 30 minute MSX video myself fully stacked with 3 jokes a minute and close up camera shots, the public needs to be educated.

Re: Classic Game Room Leaving YouTube
I like CGR. I'm well aware that Mark doesn't do any deep analysis of the games he features and pretty much just boils it down to fun or not fun. Nobody is saying he does the deepest reviews on the internet. He does make diversions in his commentary and go off topic fairly often, but he is far from unprepared. His videos are well produced with much effort and some of us enjoy them. There is a far cry between videos like CGR, Game Sack, or Metal Jesus and some person who posts an unedited 8 minutes of them rambling into a webcam with a single 60 watt lamp on, knocks the camera over twice, says "um" 37 times, and has their mom yell to come to dinner from the other room in the middle of the video that starts with "I've never played this game before and I don't know anything about it, but here it goes LOL".brunoafh wrote:Clearly you've never watched CGR. Even if you don't enjoy something, you should be able to tell when effort is put into something or acknowledge that it has value for others.
