Yeah I mainly use GOG. I've tried to avoid Steam because I generally despise DRM and game licensing.

But I was forced to create an account to play Mount & Blade, which I got at Target. Then I found Half-Life 2 at Goodwill and had to use Steam to activate that. But that's about all I've done with it. Well, except now I have this dino game I guess.

I will look into downloading stuff though - I bet I'll get a gift card for X-Mas. The AVGN game is pretty cool and I also want Trine 2.

Yes they do. They often give you a game free for a weekend. It's like a full-game demo you get to keep for the weekend to see if you like the game.

Steam rules. You should spend more time on there. Didn't even know you had it.
If you've gotten a high enough "rank" through their trading card system, they'll also occasionally send you coupons for games. And then there are the massive sales. The massive, massive sales.

most Apogee games looked the same, but I guess that is like COD, Medal of Honour, Battlefield will all look the same 20 years from now.

Ever play Twin Snakes?

Now that one really makes the game easy.
I thought Twin Snakes was the original updated with better graphics?

More story line, updated graphics and sound, use of first person view, Nintendo Easter Eggs, and a longer game in general.

I hated Twin Snakes for awhile, and I still don't really like it (I'll never get over the voice acting), but I played it again awhile back and softened up a bit. It was like a re-telling of Metal Gear Solid from someone that wasn't actually there and is exaggerating everything, which makes it pretty funny. Some surviving genome solider that is recounting the incident at a bar 20 years later or something and trying to spice it up.

It didn't really seem all that different to me, but I'm sure I just don't remember it very well. I liked Twin Snakes a lot, but it's probably because I really like MGS. It's one of the few games I've beaten several times. Once on PS1, once on DC (via Bleemcast), and once on GCN.

Same here. Not only for the DRM, but also because GoG is almost always cheaper.

But a few games don't leave you a choice. I had to get Neverwinter Nights from Steam a while back. But then GoG got it later on, and I re-downloaded it from them. I also had to get Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines from Steam.

Is a laptop just useless for PC gaming? Thats all I have and my PC collection is 0. Not for lack of PC games I like, but for lack of PC games that run smooth enough to bother with. My laptop is fairly new (maybe 2.5 years old) and Age of Empires 2 wont even run smoothly on it. Specs-wise I know my laptop isnt great, but come on, I think any computer should be able to run games that came out 5-6 years before it.

for newer games, I'd think a stock laptop would be pretty rough. The problem being that you're stuck with integrated graphics. But if you want to play stuff like the games on GOG you should be able to at least check that stuff out. There's also plenty of indie games that are probably a lot less hardware intensive.
