CGR is leaving Youtube

Post by oxymoron »

Yup, you read right. CGR is leaving Youtube. It really sucks to see them go as they gave some of the best reviews. Youtube's new policy is really screwing them.

Saw that. Sucks. It's the principle of it, more than anything. But I'm also minorly annoyed that I can't get all my internet show content in one place anymore.

YouTube totally fucked over a LOT of people. AngryJoe was in tears at the end of his rant. It's entirely possible that a good amount of people will lose their jobs over this, even the big guys.

CGR is smart. Mark wont let the show die from this and I'm sure he'll do just fine in the future on his own site.

The TL:DR. Huge unjustified Copyright sweep done by their automated system. Totally redoing how the network system worked and how partners work.

If you have 90 minutes, this is a great panel to listen to.

Made a new terms of use deal that significantly restricted the use of copyright material in videos. Despite many companies not even being in support of banning their copyrighted material (for many companies it's basically free advertising).

I've been a long time viewer of CGR (probably 5 years now). And while it totally sucks that it won't be as convenient to watch the show (late night apple tv from the couch was one of my favorites), I will be joining the fun over at classicgameroom.com and continuing to enjoy daily reviews. I really hope that Mark and show continues to do well on its own two feet!

Ah, this must be Sega's doing then. Yep, definitely Sega to blame. Let's pin it on Sega.

Yeah that really sucks. Hopefully enough of an outcry will result that might reverse the policy changes. Otherwise it looks like everything will be shifting to Vimeo or Dailymotion or something along those lines.

edit: and they better not mess with my Game Sack!
