I know it's all personal opinions, and all. But still, I can't believe someone would complain about a magazine with the quality of Retro Gamer. Not being into Retro games is one thing, but the quality of the magazine and the articles is something I never would have imagined would be a complaint.

And comparing it to other gaming magazines is perfectly valid, if not, then what else do we compare it to?

Oh hai, BD! My comment was in response to Blu's comment. Just because an article is about "vidja games" and not Science doesn't mean some people don't take their interests seriously. I don't care about stamp collecting, but I'm not going to belittle other peoples' hobbies, either. Or perpetuate the idea that it doesn't hold merit compared to other interests.

Now if Old Stamp Collector magazine published a piece about Elvis Presley stamps and screwed up the printing timeline and ignored the artists (similar to how Retro Gamer magazine never once mentions Nazca, the original developers of Metal Slug in their "Definitive" article) you might think someone who posts on a Stamp Collecting internet forum may take it upon themselves to set the record straight. I can't imagine a bunch of people on that same forum sharing that same hobby would jump down the person's throat and go "lol It's just stamps! Gawd!"

When someone is promoting themselves as an authority on a subject and goes on to publish a "Definitive" article filled with more opinion than fact, why shouldn't they be scrutinized? We are supposed to just take this guy's opinion as gospel just because he's published in Retro Gamer magazine?

Apparently this wasn't his only display of unprofessionalism.
I wouldn't be surprised if no other publications want to take a chance on him.

You mean Nazca, who was acquired by SNK the same year Metal Slug released?

But really, a freelance writer accounts for the entirety of a magazine that has well over 100 issues under it's belt? A freelance writer that hasn't surfaced since? There's probably a reason for that.

I guess by that logic, everyone should stop reading New York Times. It sucks, they've published more than a few retractions.

And I don't know about everyone else, but that guy writing the post came off a bit anal, to me.
