If you like that, you need to do yourself a favor and check out "Starchaser: The Legend of Orin". I know it's on YouTube, as that's where I first saw it.samsonlonghair wrote:I absolutely LOVE light years. This has long been one of my favorites. Good pick, BurningDoom.

There's some obvious Star Wars rip-offs, as you can see. But it still stands on it's own, and is another great animated movie in that same vein.

Been a long time since I watched it, but I think he was one of the minor mutant guys. Only had a couple of lines I believe. There's lots of stuff of Teller speaking now out there.BurningDoom wrote:Who was he?Hobie-wan wrote:For the longest time it was the only recording of Teller's voice (of Penn & Teller) that was out there too.BurningDoom wrote:I watched Light Years (a.k.a Gandahar) last night.

Just saw Hunger Games 2. The bits in the district were more interesting than the fight scenes which were a bit duff. Lots of biblical imagery as well, so I guess Catniss is john the baptist? Does that make Peeta Jesus?
Godzilla trailer looks...hmm. I don't know. The screech isn't quite right.

I'm just going to say that I do not keep high hopes for another americanized godzilla movie.Sload Soap wrote:Godzilla trailer looks...hmm. I don't know. The screech isn't quite right.
BoooooooooooooFrank Darabont, the screenwriter, described his plans for Godzilla as returning it to a "terrifying force of nature" in interviews. The film will add a "very compelling human drama" and that Godzilla would be tied to a "different contemporary issue" rather than the original atomic bomb testing

Im just gonna watch the original Godzilla styled movie instead:samsonlonghair wrote:BoooooooooooooFrank Darabont, the screenwriter, described his plans for Godzilla as returning it to a "terrifying force of nature" in interviews. Watching the Rhedosaurus move still gives me goosebumps sometimes. Not as much as the Skeletons though.
But back on topic. Last night I pulled a double feature of Beverly Hills Cop and the MST3k I Accuse my Parents. BHC is one I like to watch every few years just because it is a solid movie for background watching. It is fun, has a rockin soundtrack, and has several classic Eddie Murphy moments. I Accuse My Parents was horrible beyond belief and is one of the few films on MST3k I would not watch without the bots. It is about a highschool aged boy who ends up running numbers for the mob without his knowledge. Then he goes to court and instead of taking the rap he accuses his parents of being bad and that is why he did it. And to ruin it, the judge decides to blame the parents and it became a PSA.

And the best part about Beverely Hills Cop is that it was originally intended to star Sylvester Stallone. But the director wanted to make a funny movie, and Stallone wanted to focus on serious issues over handling violent crime, so he left the film to write and star in a different movie. That movie...was Cobra.
