Yesterday I was given a broken HP g60 laptop. It was broken because it did not have a harddrive or powercable. Luckily I had a compatible powercable, spare 2.5inch sata drive, and using the Windows Vista key on the bottom, boom, functioning laptop.

2.1 GHz Pentium chip
4 gigs of ram
GMA4500
And the most important of all - Audio over HDMI

Once I get a hybrid drive it will be awesome, right now it is only a 60 gig drive. It plays everything I own on GoG except the Witcher games fine, but if it will play Starbound it will be perfect.

that's sick. My laptop is actually a similar "here, this is broken" model as well that I've been rocking since 2008. It's a pretty crappy Compaq w/ XP on it, but same deal where I just threw in an extra HDD I had from another "here, this is broken" laptop and activated XP via the sticker key. It's a big, heavy, ugly laptop but I really only use it for internet browsing anyway.

So, I got excited because I don't own a GC and would love to play some of the games. Also, seeing how the Component Cables for a GC are more than a BC Wii, I thought it would be better to go with a BC Wii.

WEEEELL, it turned out the Wii wasn't backward compatible. However, it did come with a Wiimote with Motion plus built in and since I only have one Wiimote for my Wii U, I still came out ahead.

Nothing really useful here, just thought I would share.
Since when is the Wii not backwards compatible with the GameCube? It's, in essence, a modified GameCube!

I thought only the red ones with $100 tag are not backwards compatible

I know they took the GC ports off of a lot of the newer ones (and made them incompatible with burned discs, though that's a different story), but I didn't know standard Wiis weren't BC
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
Chronically out of date BST thread

Those have even more capability removed, like networking, component video output, and the SD card slot.

The others are called the Family Edition, and replaced the BC models on the market in late 2011 as mentioned.

By the way, Nintendo has an official page detailing the differences between wii models.
