I really need to play SotC. Is there any way that does not involve a PS2 (or, I guess, a PS3 that is backward compatible, I have neither)? Noise, you mention the PC, that would be with epSX2 or whatever the emulator is called right?

I use PCSX2 for PS2 emulation. My computer was too shit to run SotC though, so I can't account for how well it is emulated.

If you have a ps3, but it just isn't backwards compatible, you could go for the Ico/SotC HD release there too.

It's pretty much the definitive version of the game.

From what I recall, SotC is one of the hardest games for PCSX2 to emulate, so take that for what you will.
