What RPG are you playing right now?

So I preordered Final Fantasy Anthology back in the day and I just now finished Final Fantasy V. I have attempted to play through it several times before, but something else always distracted me. Feels good to finally check that one off the list. Now to play VI again for possibly the hundredth time!

I'm 20 hours into FFXIII-2 and have to say I'm enjoying myself.

Sereh(?) is a pretty typical damsel type, but oh so refreshing over smokey voice boring Lightning. Snow I realized was alright but him constantly being tied down by Hope in XIII pretty much ruined him completely, here he was decent and it was nice seeing him around Sereh instead.

What's this... Caius, a recurring villain? Wow, if only XIII had that. Instead we got Bartsimponsomething.

Noel is awesome.

90% of the plot is still hilariously bad and just made up words and science, but it's safe to say this one has done things better than the original for me. I'm fairly excited for Lightning Returns, despite hating her. I think it's hilarious playing XIII-2 now while my roommate has the PS4... XIII-2 almost looks like it's on par with what he's playing. The budget is ridiculous and the game is gorgeous.

Also thought I would hate the music but I'm honestly loving it.

The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion on PSP.

This is a 2005 remake of a PC-98 game originally released in 1996.

It's actually the 4th game in the series - not that anyone would know, Bandai royally screwed up the game titles in localization.

It's fun so far - has the classic Falcom feel. The battles are a bit slow for my taste though.

I am not sure if I responded here...but I am currently playing Final Fantasy VIII. I just picked up a copy of Shin megami Tensei Nocturne...but I wont be playing it as its sealed I want to use it as trade bait...tho I hear its good.

FF8 is interesting for sure. I want to get FF7 or 9 or Koudelka.

Anyway...I am trying to play Dragon Quest VII but its hard in japanese. thats on hold till I get a menu translation and such so I can play it.

Aside from that I will give Soudeiki one more try before I bench it.

I am looking hard for Final Fantasy X International so I pray I can find it.

If you have the means, play Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. The additions and such are well worth getting them for.

So Thats about it for me for now. I MIGHT try Nocturne...but I am not opening my sealed copy as I got it for trade bait but until I trade it, I could burn a copy and use it on my chipped PS2 as I hear its a good game.

Still on FF4 on my SNES. Unfortunately I never get to play games because my irritating niece always comes in to bug me when she hears video game music and never shuts up. Especially about how "horrible" the SNES graphics are. It's not even worth it to try.

I also wanted to add I started Dragon Quest VII for PSX. its hard playing it in japanese. I cant find a US version so this is ok for now. I am enjoying it a bit...had to print out a lot so I could understand menu's and items and such but now that I have I am enjoying it a lot more. I have bad ADHD so its hard for me to stay focused on one game only so I am jumping between a burn of FFX International, DQ VII, FF8, and Soudeki. I am going to start up Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain of Memories for PS2 soon.

Anyway...thats about that heh. phew!

Lightning Returns demo is up if you have a Japanese PSN account.

Definitely cool stuff... the battle system seems fun and different enough from the first two. Supposedly we'll get the Japanese audio as some DLC lol, but it's honestly almost enticing to me because Lightning's voice actor sounds so much better than her English VA. But for consistency sake with other characters, it'd be a weird change. I hate that (or cases like Xenosaga where characters get voice actor changes by the game).

Lightning Returns seems to have a pretty similar thing. I think Lightning is the only playable character in it and by switching clothes you change your class/skills, lol. Sounds goofy but yeah it was fun.

The dressphere system is quite solid mechanically but suffered in the west due to the "girls playing dress-up" image it evokes. The paradigm mechanic of XIII is basically a distillation of the dresspheres.
