Sure. The Car, Duel, Maximum Overdrive, Christine, The Hearse, Killdozer, etc. It pulls off the whole mixture of road movies and car-based exploitation films, such as the likes of Death Race 2000, The Wraith, the Mad Max trilogy, The Hitcher, The Cars that Ate Paris, Race with the Devil, Cannonball, Vanishing Point, Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry, and Two-Lane Blacktop.cha cha wrote:(there was a generation of old killer car movies? After hearing the announcement of the Age of Apocalypse movie I've decided to marathon the X-Men movies this weekend. I've only seen the original and The Wolverine, so this'll help me catch up on the film universe (probably a good thing before Days of Future Past).

Well that sounds like a roller coaster that's half crap and half pretty good.MrPopo wrote:After hearing the announcement of the Age of Apocalypse movie I've decided to marathon the X-Men movies this weekend. I do enjoy X2, but for me that's the only one worth watching. Everything else, X-MEN aside, is either close to terrible or flat out terrible.
A few of my Double Dribble Duders had to bow out due to great (but true) excuses including: "Dog sitting my parents dog", "Heavy period, awful cramps", and the inevitable "Too tired from a long week of work" so Pringles and I are going to throw another drive-in. Tonight is THE POLICE LIVE!. Big The Police fan over here, so seeing a "live" concert should be pretty rad.

First Class wasn't bad either. Or, at least, it's a definite improvement over X3 and Origins: Wolverine.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
A polished turd is still a turd. Take it for what it is worth, but I though FIRST CLASS was close to unwatchable. A CGI shitfest with 90% of the movie being people dicking around and talking about themselves. Not as bad as THAT MOVIE ABOUT THE X-MAN WOLVERINE AND HIS ORIGINS WITH TOO MANY CAMEOS, but really, really close. Watch FIRST CLASS in 2020 and tell me it doesn't look like ass. Hell, watch it in 2015 and tell me it doesn't look like ass. It's one uninterested stiff character after another.isiolia wrote:First Class wasn't bad either. ...but I do think APOCALYPSE has incredible potential. As long as half of the movie doesn't focus on the origin of Apocalypse and what his powers are and how he chose his name, it could be the best X-Men movie yet. And speaking of X-Men movies, would it kill to show a bit of support to the fanbase and call it THE UNCANNY X-MEN?
I wish studios would follow suit. What a wasted opportunity with movie titles. Give us THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN followed by THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN followed by THE WEB OF SPIDER-MAN. Hell, name them AMAZING, SPECTACULAR, AND WEB. Anything is better than "2" and "3".

I just don't understand why society is completely fine with all the sex and everything, but the idea of an age gap is taboo. Really, there's just way to much acceptance of supposedly meaningless sex, and if we are to accept that, why not accept consensual sex in cases with an age gap? If having 7 or 8 sex partners in the past doesn't put you on the lascivious side of the fence, might as well start earlier.Luke wrote:So say you had a twelve year old daughter who was sexing it up with a twenty year old male. 7 or 8 isn't that many sex partners, for one thing, but for another it has to do with our concepts of maturity. Society frowns on the underage being in such a relationship because we see it as exploitative: an immature adolescent being pressed upon by someone much older and capable of manipulating them.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I just don't understand why society is completely fine with all the sex and everything, but the idea of an age gap is taboo. When you have a gap like a 22 year old with a 40 year old, it kinda creeps you out. It's like thinking of your parents having sex; it just hits that part of your brain that goes "eww".
But then there's the underage thing. Before a certain developmental point (both mentally and physically) a person is not ready for sex and isn't able to render informed consent.
And seriously, you think about life way too much. Maybe you should get involved in something like the military or the peace corps. That would get your mind somewhere else.

I really don't see how you could argue any issues with it other than physical or emotional problems, but then again, normal sex or lack thereof can lead to emotional problems. I'd also argue that the younger person has the manipulative edge if they know how to work the legal system. I saw it happen to a guy I know, and he is a great person. Literally the only time he had sex destroyed his life and he isn't allowed to see his own son, just because he was one year too old to fit into the Romeo and Juliet clause.
And despite 7 or 8 sex partners being "average", I seriously see it as too high.
