Not K-Mart, K-B Toys, Toys R Us, FuncoLand, or Wal-Mart. Those were all the places I frequented as a kid. And I was always in the video game section.

Our Software Etc. didn't. We had one in the mall for years. Maybe because we aren't a very big city. Under 100,000.

Wasn't there a mailorder catalog for Neo Geo games?

I was aware of the AES console back in the day, but I don't recall, to this day, ever actually seeing one in person.

Most of the time it was just something we saw in those "win a home theater with all these consoles" contest/ad/things, though one of my friends had a brochure or something for it.

I did see MVS arcades all around, back in the day, even though I never saw AES consoles. But I had no idea the MVS arcade had interchangeable cartridges. I just thought they had the 3 to 4 games on the marquee and had no clue you could switch them.

Yeah I remember reading about it in magazines and seeing flyers and thinking the prices were insane. That's about it. Never really looked into it until a few years ago.

I also remember reading a GamePro(?) article many, many years ago about the Zelda CD-I games. I was so pissed off about the fact that there were three Zelda games Nintendo was "hiding" from me and that I'd have no way to play them as I didn't own a CD-I. If only I knew...

I finished Sonic and the Secret Rings earlier. And by "finished" I mean I threw my controller down to the floor in disgust and returned the game.

That was what I felt in my limited experience with the game. Gave me a good laugh.

After like 8 years of abandonment , I returned to complete Myst: Exile finally! I think I started playing this game in an emulated OS 9 environment on Mac OS X , and I transferred the saved files to Windows 7. It worked! I have to give it to Windows , even if I hate that OS . This game has the requirements of "Windows 95/98/ME" and 233mhz or faster.

While the world created in Myst is very amazing, I must say the gameplay is mundane . Clicking your way through pictures is just not exciting. Also the puzzles are unbelievably difficulty. I would imagine very little people completed this game on their own. Thank to today's technology, I passed it by reading a guide on my iPad and following pictures and diagrams.

The graphics are kind of upsetting even for a 2001 release artifacts are very clear. This was the same year PS2 and NGC was released bringing games like RE remake and God of War.

I Am just extra happy that Myst was always one of those games that were on my "bucket list" to complete and I finally did! Also I feel good about myself because I finished something I started maybe 8 years ago.

Back before the internet, where did people buy Neo Geo AES games?

Thats hard to say since Neo Geo almost always co-existed with the internet. Neo Geo was released in 1990, and I know that Doom was released as shareware on the internet in 1993. So its just 3 years in difference, from console release to digital distribution I guess. I understand that Neo Geo was sold in stores just PS4 and Xbox One is being sold.

I am pretty sure someone argued with me that Sonic was one of the good features of the Wii and used this game as an example.

Over the last few years I kind of built an ability to tell what games are crappy, gimmicky, not going to sell well, obscure, what games are made to make a quick buck, hidden gem, or going to be on the rare side in the future. Sonic was just one of these games that looked crappy .
