To each his own. For $30, i'd rather have it as a backup, or maybe just setup in a different room.

word. I've got 2 of them now. One in the living room, one in the game room. But I want one for the bar and one for the kitchen still. Netflix and Youtube app alone make them great alternatives to cable in some rooms.

I'd say they're terrible for it unless you like watching movies in standard definition... great Gamecube and Wii game 'player' though. Plus hacked you can get it to output emulators in 240p and other low-res modes. Never getting rid of my Wii. 8) (480p on LCDs upscaled looks super ugly to me, in regards to the Wii U playing Wii games)

Thing with Nintendo hardware is that it plummets in price quickly and rock bottom is quite low, especially nearing new hardware launch dates. For whatever reason Nintendo handhelds don't seem to be as susceptible to this, but the console prices tank big time. So it's really just a matter of whether or not you want a few more bucks vs having an extra Wii around. This also means that selling doesn't really matter because if you decide you do want one you'll be able to buy it for very cheap.

I went back and forth for awhile on whether or not I was going to sell my Wii and decided to just keep it due to being able to mod it for region bypass on both Wii and GC games. And yeah, it's just so worthless* I don't find it worth the effort to market, box up, and ship.

*edit: Worthless as in monetary value, not in use.

eh. For spare "video players" they're fine for me. I have a couple CRT's in the basement, so SD is fine. And in the kitchen I plan to put up a 19 or 21 inch LCD, so again it's not like I need super HD. Just want to be able to watch re-runs of The Office while I'm eating dinner haha.

Really watching in SD doesn't bother me and I don't have an HD tv in my room anyways(still rolling with the sony trinitron I grew up with lol). For $40 bucks you can't find a cheaper netflix box with built in wifi plus you get the added bonus of being able to play Wii/GC games.
