Ikaruga Appreciate DVD

Post by Radiant Hero »

I was thinking about buying myself the Ikaruga Appreciate DVD, but I'm on the fence. Does anyone have it? How is it? While we're on topic - does anyone here collect gaming DVDs?
I don't play games, I experience them.

I leeched it from Underground Gamer before it was deleted. It's pretty neat. You get to see the player go through all three difficulty levels. Would I spend money on it? Probably not. Still neat to help you improve your game.

its pretty sick, 3 different players actually, one for each difficulty level. It helped me squeeze a few more chains out of easy mode, but i don't know if I'd spend money on it.

I see you here on the internet...have you heard of youtube?

OR, if you have the XBLA version, you can download anyone's replay, anytime.

Superplay's are fine and dandy...for free.

If you like owning originals/discs/limited editions, then get it.

I have it and it is the only Super Play DVD that I bought. The others I got with the purchased game. The reason I bought it is because it is the only one with the TATE option. As for the content, it's the usual super play with all the different difficulties. My only complaint is that the picture is kinda fuzzy, not as sharp as the game on VGA. They could have done a better job IMO.

I have gone with this route and converted them to WMV format so that it can be played off of my PS3 hard drive. Unfortunately some of the video's quality are really bad.

I was GOING to start, as I enjoy collecting rare VHS tapes- old super plays of shmups seemed fascinating, but the urge died off quickly. I did download some high quality rips of Radirgy that I'm pleased with. Super Play is indeed super though, definitely check that out. There's a fella on the Shmup forum who has a really nice list going as well. Snoop around there if you want more info on what's out there to get.

I snatched this one off of Underground Gamer before it was taken away as well. It's okay, but like ZenLogikos says, the replays on XBLA are good enough.

If you want to buy it at this point, it will be for collecting and nothing else, especially at the prices it is going for currently.
