I downloaded Counter Strike 1.6 from steam , and there is no one online to play with. All the servers are like 0/32 . Where can I find servers?
I tried to do a google search but I think I am looking in the wrong places, some kick me out just as fast as I log in. Also one server I connected to had so much lag that I would imagine using a 56k modem would be smoother. I have the idea that online gameplay, unlike consoles, is always alive even for old games. Am I wrong?

Not sure if I want that, or the new Zelda more.
Leaning towards Zelda.

The Zelda comparison did occur to me when I played AC2 (probably my favorite one), but the depth is still like 10% of any Zelda game. You can't even compare the tombs to the Zelda temples or anything and yeah. Underneath that boring combat and fetch quests, I don't think the AC games offer much.
I am bored beyond belief with the AC series at this point.

Yet the same-ol-formula for 25+ years of the Zelda series isn't wearing thin?Xeogred wrote:

same old formula for 25+ yrs? Zelda II was a sidescroller. LTTP played with a concept of dual-worlds. Majora's Mask had a Groundhog's Day doomclock. The Oracle games messed with calendar cycles. Minish Cap had the whole shrinking thing. Et al... and the new game messed w/ 3D vs. 2D (from my understanding of previews, as I've purposely kept away from any kind of spoilers so as to play the game fresh myself). But I feel like many Zelda games try to explore something pretty drastically new while working within the framework of the series.dsheinem wrote: Yet the same-ol-formula for 25+ years of the Zelda series isn't wearing thin?
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Maybe some new story ideas or gimmicks, but the core gameplay and story structure is often largely the same - which is fine, it is a great style of gameplay and a structure that is proven through time. I think that the AC series has done much the same thing (start with some base mechanics and story structure similarities and then refine and innovate).noiseredux wrote: I feel like many Zelda games try to explore something pretty drastically new while working within the framework of the series.
From reading about and playing parts of recent Zeldas and parts of the whole AC series, I feel that the latter is doing more interesting and innovative things at a more rapid pace (granted, they are also releasing at least a game a year). I'm pretty sure that general public and critical sentiment recognizes this too: the AC series has as a whole been better received (sales, scores, etc.) since its debut than recent Zelda games (before the new one) have been.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I haven't played any of the AC games yet (despite the inclusion of Kristen Bell), so can't really comment there. Have you played any of the recent portable Zeldas though? I'm just curious if the recent games you're basing your opinion on have been just the console ones.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I base my entire opinion of Zelda on the quality of the CD-i collection, aka- the most legitimate and cannonical games in the Zelda universe. Thusly, I view Zelda amongst the worst game franchises of all time. Up there with Bubsy and NFL Quarterback Club.

I'm playing the new one and love it (you should play it). I'm only familiar with the DS Zelda games from reviews/videos...most of which were lukewarm.noiseredux wrote:I haven't played any of the AC games yet (despite the inclusion of Kristen Bell), so can't really comment there.
