I always found it funny and somewhat awesome that in Blades of Steel only the loser of the fight goes to the penalty box.
Been playing ESPN NFL 2K5 (so many acronyms) on xbox in an attempt to understand and enjoy the NFL. From my research, this is supposed to be one of the best NFL games ever. Playing as the Packer's and am currently 6-1.
As far as sports games in general go, I've never understood the attitude some have that they are somehow less than "regular" games. Many a hour has been spent winning the champions league on Pro Evo master leagues and I never stopped and went, "this is fun but it's hardly Final Fantasy is it?".
I guess the main problem sports titles have is that their ubiquity and iterating nature tend to render themselves useless, save for a few really stand out titles. Still doesn't stop them being fun. I mean, I bought a dreamcast partly for Virtua Tennis.
NFL Blitz, NBA JAM, NHL 94 and Tecmo sports games are games i love. And play them from time to time. I also love NHL 08, all after 08 just weren't as good imo. And the soundtrack kicks ass!
