You all think it's great... until you move here, that is.
Personally I can't wait to move out of state... I don't know about bone but I personally hate it here. Especially the lack of opportunities where I live. It's nice during the summer but the rest of the year everything outside is gray, and it's depressing.

Haha. I like the sun, and don't mind it being cloudy but when you can't see anything other than gray 20 ft from your face it sucks.MrPopo wrote:You're one of those weirdos who likes the sun, aren't you?Mephikun wrote:You all think it's great... until you move here, that is.

Haha that's what it's like where I'm from. Binghamon NY. It was on the top cloudy cities list on Yahoo.. And yes indeed it is. All the time.

I felt the same way "when I was your age." I lived in what was a bit of a crummy, depressing rural town. One of those places you feel trapped in.Mephikun wrote:You all think it's great... until you move here, that is.

I've grown to appreciate Maine though, and now I never want to leave.
Stay in-state and attend the University of Maine. That's my recommendation.

Yeah... whenever I think about leaving I don't want to, it's just with the area I live in, I really have no opportunities. We plan on moving to the Waterville/Augusta area next year, and then deciding if we're leaving or not. Don't get me wrong, I love it here (and equally despise it), but I just don't know if it's right for me.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I felt the same way "when I was your age." I've grown to appreciate Maine though, and now I never want to leave. There are tons of upsides to living here: beautiful not-too-hot summers, the Atlantic ocean, tons of forests (and opportunities for hiking/camping), small safe easy-to-navigate cities, a mostly friendly and easygoing populace, fantastic state university system, lack of traffic/overcrowding, close proximity to New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Canada, etc...

I've thought about attending the University of Maine but I don't know if I'll have the money. Also, with me graduating High School next year, I'm going to have a year or two to myself (graduating at 16), which I mean, I could take advantage of it to save a bit of money so that I don't dive straight into it with a couple of pennies in my pocket, hoping for the best, but I'm still unsure.

I live in the Augusta area and attend UMaine Augusta. The school is decent, but it's most certainly geared towards older non-traditional students. The campus is nothing to speak of and there's no dorms/student life.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
My main problem is that I need internet with an upload speed of 5 Mbps or higher for what I do. Currently I have 3 down 1 up and it's just a hassle. Can hardly get anything done and it's just annoying.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I live in the Augusta area and attend UMaine Augusta. This is not a challenge, but I bet shoplifting a Christmas tree in broad daylight would be pretty damned difficult.

Considering I knew a guy in high school that stole a surf board out of a mall store, I wouldn't put it past anyone.Luke wrote:This is not a challenge, but I bet shoplifting a Christmas tree in broad daylight would be pretty damned difficult.
