Anyone else have tons of video game music on ipod?
I am a huge sucker for video game music , and i have tons of soundtracks on my ipod from Astal to Mischief Maker and to Mega Man 2. Anyone else? If so whats you guys favorites?
Re: Anyone else have tons of video game music on ipod?
I'm annoyed by the fact iPod has become synonymous with portable media players (or mp3 players), but I digress
I tend to carry vgm music with me as well. What takes priority? Sega's music and arrange albums of course. They tend to be upbeat and cheerful. Examples: Streets of Rage, Outrun 2006, Nights, Burning Rangers, Sonic, Daytona (:lol:), Rez, Toejam and Earl and Vectorman (Sega Tunes), Space Channel 5, Samba de Amigo, Jet Set Radio etc. Also Namco are notable when it comes to music production which is why franchises like Katamari Damacy, Soul Calibur and Ace Combat have scores that set the standard for other composers to follow. I also enjoy music from select RPGs like Skies of Arcadia and FFX. I'm not fond of the SNES sound chip despite its edge over both Genesis sound processors, so I tend to ignore SNES arrange music even there are some real gems in there. Other games with enjoyable scores: Grim Fandango, Earthworm Jim 2, Snatcher, the Neverhood, Policenauts, Burnout 2 (before they turned punk on us), Doom 2, MGS3, Gitaroo Man, StarCraft, Outlaws, most work done by Tommy Tallarico (Cool Spot, Terminator SegaCD, MDK), Frank Klepacki (C&C, Universe at War), Richard Jacques (Mass Effect, Sonic R), the late Amiga legend Richard Joseph (Speedball 2, Cannon Fodder), Yuzo Koshiro (Shinobi, Ys), Alexander Brandon (Unreal, Jazz Jackrabbit) etc..
I think the main issue with vgm is that it's often generic and will not appeal to people who haven't played the games. Yet it's unfair the mainstream won't give the better stuff much of a chance.

I have Katamari Damacy on my 4gig Ipod Mini (circa 2004). I rock out all the time listening to it, also, rolling up balls of household objects such as children.
Consoles Owned: Nintendo SNES, Nintendo GameBoy Color, Nintendo GBA, Sony PSX, PS2, PS3, Sega Master, Microsoft XBox

I don't have an iPod, but my iTunes library at home has almost 300 game soundtracks loaded in it.
Sad thing is, I still have about 50 I haven't loaded in yet lol.

I wouldn't say a "ton", exactly. But my selection makes it up with quality:
* Final Fantasy 8 OST
* Sonic Adventure 2 OST
* Streets of Rage
* Sonic CD (American)
* Some Castlevania OSTs
And the complete Minibosses discography, but I don't really listen to them alot.
And also "Otherworld" from FFX, "Real Emotion" (Japanese version) and "1000 Words" (English) from FFX-2, and "Obsession" from .hack//SIGN (technically an anime series based on a video game).

Oh and since this racketboy's forum I just wanted to recommend the Space Invaders Extreme Audio Cluster album. Unfortunately it's only available for order from Japan.

@ Pulsar T
Major Sega music fan myself. I have alot of the same OST's you enjoy nice taste! My favorites are Rez and Streets of Rgae 2.
Something about the early-mid 90's electro-J-rock in games like VF and Daytona that makes me happy inside. Blue Blue Skies, Go away together!

No, but I have some on my pc, which I listen to from time to time. It's mostly epic stuff, like the OST's from Warcraft, Diablo or Morrowind, along some gems like Jet Set Radio (both the original and Future) or Lunar.
Re: Anyone else have tons of video game music on ipod?
I have a fair amount of video game music on my PSP which I listen to fairly regularly.
Ow! My small intestine!
