new xbox dashboard
new xbox dashboard
I'm curious to hear the reactions now that it is out.
Re: new xbox dashboard
Seems a bit more add-filled and the avatars are pointless. The actual dashboard is fine but what was so wrong with the old one?
One thing I forgot to check out was the disc to hardrive installation and I won't be back at my house for 3 days
Also, has anyone noticed if there are new resolutions available that were promised such as 1400 x 900 and 1680 x 1050? Dosen't matter to me too much since I'm on an hdtv now but just curious if it was included in the update.

Re: new xbox dashboard
I created my avatar, saw some ads, and moved on with my life.
Seriously, the whole New Xbox Experience is a huge publicity stunt to keep the 360 afloat for a few more years. The price drop factors in with this, too. Graphics on the PC are surpassing the 360, the PS3 is making decent progress all-around, and the Wii is stealing the largest gaming demographic. Microsoft is pulling out all the stops to keep the 360 in the limelight and win Holiday sales.
I didn't "experience" anything different, really. This blitz is all about altering the perception of what Xbox Live is to people who haven't jumped in yet.

Re: new xbox dashboard
good thing i tried it first, because i was ready to go to blockbuster and get a 1 month unlimited pass for this reason,
new dash allows you to put your whole 360 game onto your hard drive,
here is the catch, you can run the game off the hard drive, but you have to have the real game in the drive to prove you own it,
i wonder if i burned the iso of the game, if i can install the real game onto the hard drive, return to blockbuster than use the backup to prove i own it, i doubt it but mabye.............

Re: new xbox dashboard
Daemon tools for the 360 ?
Re: new xbox dashboard
If you need to have the game IN the drive....then whats the purpose of putting the game on the hard drive?claudio wrote:good thing i tried it first, because i was ready to go to blockbuster and get a 1 month unlimited pass for this reason,

Re: new xbox dashboard
From what I read it decreases load times, and the disc drive isn't spinning, so it runs quieter and cooler. The problem is it takes up a couple of gigs per game, so if you have a 20 gig HDD you'll run out of space real fast.RemyC wrote:If you need to have the game IN the drive....then whats the purpose of putting the game on the hard drive?claudio wrote:good thing i tried it first, because i was ready to go to blockbuster and get a 1 month unlimited pass for this reason,

Re: new xbox dashboard
In theory, faster loading times. Only works for games that aren't optimized for reading off of the disc, though. Halo 3 being the most notable game where loading off the HDD doesn't do anything.

So really its more of a gimmick than anything?RackGaki wrote:In theory, faster loading times. Only works for games that aren't optimized for reading off of the disc, though. Halo 3 being the most notable game where loading off the HDD doesn't do anything.
