Point Blank is indeed a badass album. I go back to that one pretty often. I just didn't think there were very many Nailbomb fans, let alone ones that would put them above Sepultura.

Am I alone in thinking this is one of the best metal album covers ever? Whatever the fuck is going on looks so gnarly. Looks like it should be the final dungeon is some dark fantasy RPG.

For the longest time I thought it was some Dan Seagrave art, but it turns out I was wrong.

It is apparently the same guy who did that Lovecraft art that was used on Obituary - Cause of Death.

Point Blank may be one of my best loved albums, period. I'm a huge fan of metal, hardcore punk, and industrial. And as far as seamless genre integration goes, Nailbomb just totally nailed it (heh heh).

I also have something of a nostalgic attachment to Point Blank as well, as it's one of the first extreme metal albums I was ever exposed too. I remember seeing it in the record stores as a 12/13 year old kid and thinking that the cover/back art was so stark and menacing, I just had to give it a listen. One of the best "blind purchases" of my life.

And yeah, that Arise album cover rules. I adore early 90s metal album artwork. Sepultura, Suffocation, Obituary, Dismember, Entombed... all had kick ass artwork...

90s metal for some reason pumped out a lot of god tier album art. I loved when that was such a big aspect in purchasing albums and going through CD shops. Sweet cover art led me to many purchases.

Some random favorites (not limited to 90s):
Massive Killing Capacity
Cause of Death (a given)
Breathing the Fire
Morningrise
Reign in Blood (a given)
Cuckoo Clocks of Hell
Storm of the Light's Bane
Wolfheart
Mental Funeral

Well that's probably more than enough from me.

Morningrise is one of my favorite album covers as well. Though I prefer the original version with no band logo. Same goes for Orchid, which is equally beautiful.

I could sit here all day talking about metal album covers...

If I had to pick one absolute favorite it's probably The Curse of Mankind by Forgotten Woods. It's minimalistic but still manages to absolutely scream kvlt black metal. Brilliant.

The original Realm of Chaos art rules:

Yeah, it's actually Warhammer 40k art, but who cares? It's awesome and fits the album perfectly.

The alternate cover Earache had done for the reissue isn't anywhere near as cool, even if it is from the same artist.

Apparently they did it because Games Workshop decided to be cocks and not renew the rights agreement for the art.

It's still shitty though.

So, Rust In Peace remastered sucks dick.

How does one of the greatest metal albums ever crafted, get so screwed up?
