Can I transfer files (emulators, roms, etc) with a DVD-R, or do I have to use FTP? If so, does anyone have a link to a tutorial or anything?
To me it just sounds easier than having to learn FTP. I know I'm lazy, just looking for an easy way out... I've seen a few conversations about it on here before, but I haven't heard anything about UnleashX specifically.

Re: UnleashX question
If you can learn how to burn a DVD, you can learn how to use an FTP client. Come on.
I'd imagine it's possible to do it that way, but I've never tried. Seems like a waste of time and media to me.

Go to www.xbox-scene.com and click on 'forums.' You should find tutorials and answers to all your questions there.
Hatta:
FTP is a little tricky with UnleashX. It's not as easy as one may think.
Good luck.

Re: UnleashX question
If FTP is as simple as you're making it sound, I'll do a little more reading (not that I haven't already). Everything I've read about it so far has been like Greek to me and seems like it would take a lot of time to figure out. Tech-related things always take a little longer for me to learn than the average person - and I don't have much time lately.Hatta wrote:If you can learn how to burn a DVD, you can learn how to use an FTP client. Seriously, you guys would all have a good laugh if you knew how long it took me to get the PSX emulator running on my laptop.

Re: UnleashX question
FTp is waaaay easier than burning DVD's.
I run UnleashX too, and it's just a matter of setting your xbox's IP addy to 192.168.0.3(or something) and then changing your PC's network settings yourself instead of one being assigned to you to 192.168.04 (something like that too)
Then reboot everything, start up flashfxp on your PC, when it asks for
your xboxs' user and password, they should both be "xbox" by default, port 21 (i think), and if everything went OK, you should see your xbox's HD with it's root folders and sub folders.
I apologize in advance, i'm just going thru this by memory here at work,
but I'm sure i can dig up the tutorial i followed off of scenyx (good site for help)
hope that helps,
ciao
P.S. i forgot, you'll need a cross over CAT 5 cable too. any radio shack or walmart or what ever mega store is near you. You can even make one yourself if you're so inclined from a regular CAT 5. Lemme know how it all workd out for you. trust me, ftp'ing is a beautiful thing.
I too, tried to learn how to ftp, couldn't quite get it, and tried burning data onto to a DVD-R and i was able to copy data, but only so many files. I can't remember how many to be exact, but trust me. I was trying to transfer ALOT of files, hundreds, maybe thousands, and seeing just how many i was able to transfer using DVD and copying to the HD, I would still be at it. Trust me, learning to ftp is worth your while.

Re: UnleashX question
depending on what dvd drive you have in your xbox you can try burning an emu and some roms to cdr in the form of a data disc then use unleashx file explorer to copy the files over.

My Xbox doesn't have the Samsung drive, so it can only read dvds. I've also been able to copy data over to the console, I just don't know where exactly to put the files so I can start them up from the UnleashX dashboard.
