X-COM on 3DO

Post by Gooseberrysoda »

Hey, everyone. I'm up late, looking up older iterations of the X-COM franchise, and a few websites have the second game, "Terror from the Deep" listed as having a 3DO port. Thing is, I can't even find box art for it, let alone a listing on a website. Anyone have proof that it exists?

AFAIK, that has never existed.
Then again the last time I looked up the Gollop bros. I spent 2 weeks playing Magic & Mayhem.

Maybe it was a cancelled port?

I'm kind of nervous as to what I'm getting myself into here, but what is Magic & Mayhem?

Magic & Mayhem is a game made by the Gollop bros. (the same guys that made X-COM) that uses a lot of the ideas that made X-com great, but it's in a medievil/fantasy setting, with 640x480 or 800x600 resolution graphics, the characters and environments are all stop motion claymation, it'sbturn based but everything moves at the same time when you finish your commands, and you command an army of summoned defeated enemies.

It's really cool so give it a try.

Is it like Frozen Synapse in that respect?

Well, it's actually a RTS game geared toward pvp wizard battles but in the single player campaign you can pause any time and stack commands. It's been several several years since I played it so I forgot that it's real time since playing on wizard difficulty pretty much requires that.

I hadn't actually heard of Frozen Synapse but I'm excited to play it now.

I forgot about this thread. Well, if you haven't already looked it up, Frozen Synapse has you plan your character's movements/firings, compares them to your opponent's plan, then has the result play out. It's like choosing a play for a Football game, which coincidentally is the theme for the next Frozen game.
