Book called it Dragon Quest which is the original name of the game in all fairness, even the remakes of the dragon warrior games use the Dragon Quest name.

No Mirror's Edge? For shame. And some of those games...I was surprised to see them at the end of the list and not at the very top...not that it matters but...yeah surprised.

It's not a bad list, but not a good one either. NHL over NHL 1994 or 2002?

I agree with the guys who say "This is a games you should know about list.

My score: 65 out of 999.

Apparently Pokemon Red/Blue and Gold/Silver pales in comparison to Sapphire/Ruby. And the second half of the list is nearly all shovelware... essential my butt.

Ah but to give it a spin maybe not 1001 games but top 50 or so games on each console that are also easy to find/get and are somewhat cheap. I know this site has stuff like that but the prices are outdated and it doesn't cover every system.

For what it's worth, I'd played 261 of this list. Whilst I don't think it's an amazing list, I think it covers a lot of the important titles and throws up a few nice curveball games. I imagine the weighting towards modern games is mostly because they tend to stick in the mind more than older titles. I almost feel as if any list compiled of essential must play games should feature no games under 5 years old until they've had a little more time to prove themselves.
