You're pretty much never going to see Snake's Revenge on a compilation, but the entire series (including Metal Gear 1 and 2) has been collected several times at this point. They're all on the Legacy Collection at least.
Alright, took it off. I don't have a PS3, so I didn't notice.

The MSX versions of Metal Gear 1 & 2 are on the HD collections, so if you have a 360 you can play them on that.

I didn't know that. That actually may make it a worthwhile purchase for me, as cheap as it goes now. I'm not as big of a fan of the Solid games as I am the old NES one. And I never have played the MSX versions.

I have been wishing for a compilation of Konami Beat 'em ups.

I'm kind of thorn on compilations. I would prefer to own them for all my retro gaming needs but the low quality of emulation, difficulty of finding certain titles and lack of compensation to the creators because many of them are too old drive me to emulation.

Here's an example. There are three ways to play Gimmick! (NES)

1) Buy a 400€ copy on the secondary market, that doesn't compensate the creators.
2) Buy a 60€ compilation with emulation issues and flaky sounds that was released 20 years ago and doesn't compensate the creators.
3) Emulate it

Taito Legends has both emulation issues and Starforce. It's also old enough so as to not give Taito a cent. The same goes for Namco Museum and neither works well under modern computer OS.

It's also very dissapointing that these compilations are all pretty barebones. Why not include a bit of strategy or developer interviews? Why not add commentary or superplays for some titles? Bring it in like with movie releases like Criterion and make them worthwhile to own forever.

Personally I would greatly appreciate the following:

Cave complete works
Toaplan complete works
Raizing complete works
Sunsoft complete works
Capcom's Beat'em ups
Gradius Series (Including Gaiden, console ports and other minor releases)
Looking for a cool game? Find it in my blog!

The XBOX Version has that and the anime episode plus it works on the 360.
