I fed most of a 50 pack of 2032 batteries through this. Building up a series of chaos. It's the beige on tan. Probably spent too long in a tight pocket. Started flaking out, wouldn't wake from sleep, then would work for minutes then freak out.
Say a prayer. Tomorrow begins the investigation.

Re: First VMU had died.
Is this just the screen/buttons/sound-stuff and if so, are your saves alright?
Re: First VMU had died.
If the VMU batteries die, only the screen and the portable features away from a plugged in controller will no longer function. Any game saves should still be all right. I've taken the batteries out of all of mine and they work just fine

Can still access the saves! I had been carrying it in my pocket everywhere to get my Chao stats up. I think it got compressed or flexed or something.
Not bad for something bought in 1999, although it did spend about 6 years in a box

This is interesting, glad you posted the update. I knew the VMU did not need batteries to save, a bonus hearing the beep cue that it is picked up when powering up. I never played too much with the "portable mode" due to reputation of batteries not lasting long. Nice to know the VMU games still saves thru the internal flash memory.SoltanGris wrote:Can still access the saves! I had been carrying it in my pocket everywhere to get my Chao stats up. Absolutely. No need for batteries to get at the data. I was afraid I'd flexed it and cracked the circuit board which might have prevented the data from being read. Still don't know what exactly went wrong, even used the magnifying glass.CRTGAMER wrote:This is interesting, glad you posted the update.
