Gaming news websites are good for news like announcements, and any one of them will do. For serious video game talk and criticism, there are...none? Maybe hg101 counts, or icycalm's site when he's being serious.

There are youtube channels though. Errant Signal has done well.

They bring fresh and unadulterated content. My favorite thing about them is their reviews. I base all my purchases off of them.
Please tell me you are joking...?

I only use N4G. They gather articles from all over and post them news-feed style. There is a ton of crap articles to go through (I mean, they do need to be user approved first), but in terms of finding news quickly, there is no better place on the internet. New stories are submitted there instantly, and the community is huge and some of them seemingly live at their computer refreshing gaming news sites.

Seems almost weird to limit yourself to one or two sites, this one basically gives you everything out there to pick through. Also, you can find sites/blogs that you like through here.

Of course I was joking, dude. I was thinking about putting blue text but I thought context clues would be enough.

I'm not the target audience for most sites. I'm not particularly interesting in reviews of new games, I know too much to enjoy features directed at a mainstream audience and I'm too critical to allow such a low level of discourse.

If I want to know what's the latest controversy and what's news, I just read the NeoGAF forums, which I do from time to time. Twitter also helps because people don't shut up about the latest silly complaint

I also read nohighscores.com because two writers I really appreciate write there. But it's not a mainstream site and you won't find the latest news on it.

There's however another reason why I'm not particularly interested in game journalism and that's how trite and repetitive the covered topics are:

1) Is Nintendo doomed?
2) Second wave feminism tackles video games
3) ENTITLED GAMERS
4) Popular game gets 8.8, rage ensues
5) Why aren't games taken seriously? Answer: YOU
6) lol shmups
7) The death of Sega
8 ) Old school games are ugly and unfair

That's like 90% of games journalism there.

I don't know. I honestly wish I could find a news site that I could regular, it would make it easier to keep up on gaming news. For now I just use a couple people that I'm subscribed to on Youtube and this forum to find out about what's going on.

I use to be a big fan of the old Gamesradar. They never took anything too seriously, had short and to the point articles, and mixed in a good amount of news articles with other kinds of articles that were purely for comedy. Also their reviews were great. They were honest with their opinions on the game and admitted that they were only human and, yes of course, had some biases that they couldn't help (See Chris Antista's review of Epic Mickey).

But, unfortunately, right around the time the main editors started resigning and getting jobs elsewhere the whole site started re-branding itself to be more "professional" and they basically became another generic Gamespot type of site. Ever since then I've never been able to find another game site that has caught my love the same way. :(

I dont know if they are necessarily the best, but I tend to go to IGN for gaming news.

You can disagree with Adam Sessler (I do all the time), but he's no idiot. The man has been reviewing games for many years, and now he's totally free to do as he pleases with no network overlords to command him. I don't always agree with Sessler, but I respect his opinion.

Admittedly I also feel this way about Sessler. His early X-Play stuff was quite good, and he would often give reasons as to his view on the game. Once Morgan Webb got hired, everything went downhill for Sessler, and I noticed he got less screen time and less attention paid to his wardrobe and makeup. He also seemed to smile less on camera as time went on. I'm glad he's able to pursue his own thoughts and criticisms on games again, even if I don't necessarily agree with him.

He is usually talking about games I don't care about, and I think he's kind of goofy, but I also respect Sessler. When I used to watch G4 a lot (for some reason), I always saw him as the only guy on the channel that actually knew what he was talking about and was trying to provide worthy content to his fellow gamers. Whether or not he was always successful is another story, but he was definitely trying and doing more than blind script reading and acting.

Spoiler Alert! He has a habit of bashing Japanese games with unfounded and seemingly random reasons so truthfully I don't see eye to eye with him very often, and never watch his stuff. I just grew to like him as the only actual gamer on G4, and his obviously real passion for the hobby.
