Hey guys, I recently moved not too long ago and unknowingly used the wrong (regular) bubble wrap instead of the pink stuff...when I unpacked, I tested a bunch of stuff and all seems to work totally fine but I was wondering, did I weaken any of the circuits or possibly mess things up (because of static electricity) for the future on my classic gaming collection? I packed up, discs (dvds, cds, gd-roms), carts and consoles with this regular wrap.
Most of it was packed pretty tightly and most of the stuff was in the bubble wrap for about 2 days.
Thanks!

Post your collection in the Game Rooms & Home Theater forum
Re: Used wrong bubble wrap for moving...
when I moved I didn't even bubble wrap a lot of my stuff, just put in box and wrote on the boxes what it was and didn't throw it around. so I doubt you did anything to weaken them.
but ya so show us your collection

Anti static stuff matters a lot more if you're in a climate that generates more static electricity and if you're dealing with bare circuits like PC add in cards and such. Stuff that's in its normal cases and moreso boxes will be fine as long as you weren't rubbing your head with a balloon and shuffling across the carpet and specifically touching exposed connectors every time you moved something.

I just like to shuffle around the house in some fuzzy socks and a balloon animal hat. Leave me alone.

So thats what the pink bubble wrap is for! I just thought people were using it because it looked cute.

Well since we're nearing Christmas, I'm sure there will be some red (pinkish) and green bubble wrap that's normal, but yeah, off season and the super thick pink stuff is generally the anti static kind. Though I have seen and received some 'hot pink' opaque stuff that I presume was cancer benefit stuff too.ninjainspandex wrote:So thats what the pink bubble wrap is for!
