Expanding wireless range???

Post by masonyes »

I'm using a usb wireless thumb size card, wg111v2 and I also have the wg111t. How do I extend/enhance coverage, so I can pick up more networks?
You know that story, about how NASA spent millions of dollars developing this pen that writes in Zero G? Did you ever read that?
You know how the Russians solved the problem?

Get a colander or build a cantenna.

Colander:

Cantenna:

If your good you can rig it up in an old dish network dish, but that works better when you dont have to use a usb adapter.

Cantennas are kinda hit or miss, but I have had quite some luck with a usb adapter. Now if you dont already have the adapter, buy this:

The Hawking Dish is just awesome, alittle fragile but so worth it. And yes there is a mac version.

erm...

Why would you even want to do that?

I don't even think it's possible anyway...

consolidtion would quantify my internet speed by how many signals. so instead of 2.0 megabytes/ 2.0+.5+.5= 3.0. Signficantly faster, why hasn't anyone created the program?

The conflicts of using three separate DHCP servers (which is basically what all routers do by default) added to the fact you have no direct control over these routers. Unless they have their admin pages unsecured. Plus the fact that you're leaching somebody's bandwidth. The inherent legal problems and the whole moral issue surrounding leaching is more than enough reasons to say it ain't a good idea.

Multiple wireless cards bridged together, they call it shotgunning. It works better if you have a standalone pc handling the load.
