I'm glad to hear that, because I changed my pre-order from Knack to Lego Marvel at the last minute. I've never played a Lego game before, so it's nice to see someone else who hadn't played them (much?) before enjoy it.
I'm a big fan of the Player One podcast. They're generally more level headed, unbiased, mature and intelligent than most other gaming podcasts and they were quite shocked by the massive beat down Knack is taking from critics. They said that it's a fun, if a bit flawed game that is not deserving of some of the super low scores it's gotten. According to them, a lot of the negative reviews sound like people who are biased or just your typical, whiny weak sauce gamers.

I really am curious about this game as it's gotten such different reactions. The Player One guys say it's a fairly simple game suitable for kids, and a lot like the Lego games. Yet one of the guys on the Weekend Confirmed podcast called it "hardcore" and said he was very frustrated by how hard it was. Andrea Renee seemed to agree. I know for a fact she's pretty weak sauce, so I'm inclined to believe the Player One crew that some of the people hating on it just suck at games.

I want to try it out myself though. Too bad I can't afford a PS4 yet. Maybe for the best, since so many of the early adopters got finicky or defective systems.

Unless the demo store unit of Knack is vastly different than the retail release, Knack does suck. And it's not because it's difficult, it's because it lacks charm, is boring, and doesn't have a good gameplay feel. There is no presence to your character, jumps are floaty, level design is bland, and objects are confusing as to whether or not they are destructible. Like I said, it may just be the demo, but since the primary purpose of a demo is to entice to buy, it failed miserably.

That's a real shame if that's true of the final product. I still kind of want to try it though. It doesn't look that bad to me and I'm into these kinds of games

Stark and I both played the demo at Fry's shortly before the PS4 launched and we both felt that same about it. I don't think it was terrible, but it wasn't particularly good either. I'd still be curious in giving the full retail version a whirl just because I've played a number of bad demos that didn't properly represent the full product.

So let me get this straight. Both Killzone and Knack are not worthwhile titles? I'm starting to feel just a bit better about waiting a couple months.

Killzone is pretty good. It won't blow you away but it is a quality fps.

I've really been enjoying it personally. The only major knock I'd give against it is how often it saves and it does have a few bugs. It looks to only save at "chapter" breaks so if you quit you start that chapter over. I was playing chapter 4 last night and the game crashed and made me start the chapter all over. I was about 30 mins into it so that was annoying..

I think KZ is pretty damn good. My only complaint is the few and far between save points.

I haven't been following media around other console's launches except last gen. which if I recall correctly both Wii and 360 had a ton of excitement around them , the ps3 was a bit disappointing due to high price, Bluray still not the standard format of HD discs, machine was bulky, lack of games, and at that point the 360 was putting slightly better graphics even though Sony promised that ps3 will be more powerful.

I feel this generation launch is very "mild" compared to previous launches (for all 3 consoles). Any one here who have been around for multiple launches through videogame history so he can compare to us the situation?

I feel like the launches for all of these machines was very, very rushed - almost to the point where Sony and Microsoft were doing it just to do it. The market seemed to be demanding new consoles, so they were rushed out the door. Nowhere does this seem more evident than when looking at the launch titles for all the consoles. Not one single game for the PS4 or XB1 is a must-have title in my opinion, and the Wii-U was almost as bad.
