Best Undiscovered PS2 First Person Shooters?
Best Undiscovered PS2 First Person Shooters?
Ok -- this is actually the genre I am most lacking on for the upcoming PS2 Hidden Gems posts.

This one is tricky
Deus Ex: The Conspiracy
Cold Winter
Half Life (I reckon most people haven't heard of the PS2 port!)
Project: Snowblind
Urban Chaos: Riot Response
I assume most other fps titles did rather well considering the large PS2 userbase and the dearth of quality fps titles (The PS2 wasn't designed with PC-quality shooters in mind). Other potential underdogs: Area 51, XIII and Robotech: Invasion

Re: Best Undiscovered PS2 First Person Shooters?
Besides the aforementioned Darkwatch, Cold Winter and Urban Chaos (all great games that for some reason weren't well received) I would say Red Faction. It was somewhat popular back in the day, but it looks like most people forgot about it already. Than there's Warhammer 40k: Fire Warrior (I hear it's somewhat mediocre, but ok) and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I don't know how successful the Call of Duty games were but most of them were pretty good, at least back then (FPS on the PS2 in general aged terribly...).
Other than those (and all the others mentioned in the previous posts) I can't remember any other undiscovered FPS, I think everyone heard of Timesplitters, Killzone, Black and Medal of Honor already.

I have Firewarrior, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're a Warhammer 40k fan. It's not bad, just average. Project: Snowblind is easily better.

IMHO, it shouldn't be a game that is on any other consoles, except in cases where the PS2 version is the superior version.

There's still the first Timesplitters game, Half-Life port, Serious Sam: The Next Encounter (there's a GC version, but the controls are obviously ill-equipped for a FPS; and the PS2 version supports online multiplayer), and a few others.

But Serious Sam and Half Life are both already in a superior form on the PC. Timesplitters is a good mention, though, even though I've personally never played it.

But why play the original?MrPopo wrote:But Serious Sam and Half Life are both already in a superior form on the PC. Timesplitters is a good mention, though, even though I've personally never played it.
