you can listen to music any time...
On the opposite , watching shows or movies are much harder because you must concentrating on a screen not driving, showering, jogging, working, drawing, texting , or even playing games.

1 song is like 4.5 min, 1 movie is like 90 min . Also music is much more available with multiple radio stations, youtube, many online stores, and streaming services. You do not have to BUY it , I also imagine that used music CDs are way cheaper than movie bluray/dvds

Yeah guys, I can't buy this, I'll just steal it and not give the artist any of them money they deserve for the work, let alone whatever company helped promote and sell it, and all the music producers either.

While that is true, I'm pickier about movies and TV Shows and have a lot less I'm interested in. About 90% of the music I like isn't on the radio, and a decent portion of the stuff I like has 10+ minute songs. I'm also paranoid about having all the releases from an artist unless they change styles at some point, along with most of my music not being stuff I can play around others.

I'm also still having issues dealing with whether or not I still want to keep listening to metal, as it is a genre that you almost have to get deep into, rather than skimming like you can with other genres...

I overthink the majority of things. I have a paranoia about not keeping things I don't use, and not spending money on things I won't use, so when it comes to games, music, and movies, I end up selling anything I don't want, but the secondary music market is so shit I can't help but think about all the money I'm wasting.

That word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I get wanting to be careful and picky about what you buy so you don't waste any money, but you get really weird about it with all the different factors you try to weigh in. Simplify your criteria, you'll be better off for it.

I used to sell off stuff I didn't think I'd want anymore, but I found that more often than not I'd regret doing that down the line. Nowadays I pretty much don't sell anything off unless it's a duplicate of some sort.

I always try to simplify my criteria, but then I end with a want list two miles long, full of doom metal, Texas-Country, old hard rock, and a mix of more traditionally styled metal and some bits of electronic music that catches my attention. Its just too much.

The main thing is metal, for me, is so full of stuff I like I can't stop finding stuff. But I like being able to wait for new albums and such, so I have this duality of trying to find good older bands and good new stuff. I've decided to cut out the majority of harsh vocaled stuff to save those around me and lessen it some, but there's just too much. I also like a lot of power metal, but the cheese is so stinky I'm embarrassed. And I don't want to turn into one of those guys who considers metal dead after the 80's (I kinda think it is, but whatever.) Sometimes I just think I'll drop listening to metal, and then I play Brutal Legend again...

...still way overthinking it.

So what if you end up with a 10 mile long list? Who says you have to listen to everything ever anyway? Just take it slow and natural. I'm sure I've said this a billion times before.

...also why should the tastes of those around you be any concern to what you listen to? I doubt they think about yours when they listen to music they like.

I think worrying about the taste of those around me stems from my social problems. Kinda like how I really restrain my humor and thoughts around any girl I take interest in because I'm scared of making them not like me. Actually, its why I don't really go and try to make friends how normal people would.

The one thing that has stopped me from leaving metal is me wanting some type of fantasy themed music, of which metal is just about the only one. The same thing with music about battle and fighting- metal is just about the only music that covers that.

Get this album:

It is awesome.

Also...I would offer you advice, but I have a video game want list with just over 1500 games listed on it. As a result, I don't think I am the best person to write on this subject...

Damn!

The question is - what's bigger? Your want list or your actual collection?

I just checked my want list - 130 games! Didn't know it was that long......

I do have an "informal want list" too that exists only in my head, basically consisting of things like:
"any Atari game I don't already own"
"any VIC-20 and Commodore 64 carts I don't already own"
etc......
