I'm not heckling anyone - I'm stating my opinion on the issues that are being discussed. No, I don't agree with the majority of the people on this thread about buying a PS4 at launch, but that doesn't invalidate my opinion. I may not agree with everyone here, but I do read people's opinions and try to think from their perspective. If you don't want to read my posts, kindly skip over them.
For someone who doesn't have a lot of interest in the PS4 at launch, you've sure posted in this thread a lot.
Are you seeking validation on holding off on buying the system for now? Do you just need a hug?

If I did, would you give me one? Please?
Of course I'm interested in the PS4 - I find this time of any gaming generation very interesting, especially the responses from people concerning launch titles and the market for last generation games. I'm interested in the Wii-U and XB1 as well, as soon as some games that don't cost an arm and a leg come along. That being said, I am buying the new Zelda 3DS XL bundle on Friday, so I'm not a complete cheapskate.

I am.
Games usually cascade in price in mere years. Madden 08 was $60.00 in 2008 and now will cost you $1.00 for the PS3 copy. Not the best example as not all game drop that much in price percentage wise, and I don't really fiend for new games unless they are said to be incredible (Bioshock Infinite*).
*which I could have saved $30.00usd on if I had waited for only six months, half the price of the game.

Sim sports games are a poor example as many who play want to play online and with the current rosters and latest advancements in physics and AI.
I've changed my buying early methods to collectible or potentially rare games (i.e atlus games), games I want to play right now or I want to play multiplayer as that is typically when the online environment is most active, or other niche games where I want to really support the developer.

Anytime
Fair enough. I certainly can't argue with the decision to buy that 3DS bundle. I already have a 3DS XL and I find it tempting.

I like the idea of an expansion pack, but seems like they didn't add a port for it unless they are going to use the USB ports for it.
PS4 won't be doing that exactly. I mean more the general model becoming more like what you see with PCs, mobile platforms, and so on. You don't, for example, have many iOS apps that require exactly an iPad 2 like console games would require a PS3. Plenty of iOS apps still run on an iPad 2, though they may run better on later models, and some may require one of the newer ones.
There are pros and cons either way for that model, but the general point was that if they just stick with compatible, off-the-shelf parts from here on out, they could blur the lines between console generations.
That said, MS has already said the Xbox One will run some Windows 8 apps.
I do not think that would work, simply because there will be even less reason to jump a generation. It will be very hard to tell some one your PS4 is outdated you need to upgrade. Plus console life span is about 6-7 years which is about time to upgrade, on the opposite of iPad that gets bigger and badder every year or two. If Sony decides to sell PS 5 in another 2-3 years with a slight upgrade, then I can see where this is going...
Anyone else pleasantly surprised many review sites and magazines haven't plastered highly-hyped games with 9's and 10's? Restores a bit of credibility methinks.

I'm glad to hear that, because I changed my pre-order from Knack to Lego Marvel at the last minute. I've never played a Lego game before, so it's nice to see someone else who hadn't played them (much?) before enjoy it.
