The Price Charting Index in the upper right corner shows the average price of all SNES carts they track across their reported sources. I should probably note that this information pertains to online auction sales primarily and does not including shipping costs. But yes, prices as a whole have nearly doubled since the beginning of 2011 but appear to have largely leveled off in the last six months or so of 2013.

at $14 per cartridge , I really do not understand the high prices of 20 year old consoles. It is amazing when you go out and find ps3/360 games for $15/20 yet a SNES cartridge is $14 on average.

I can only let this pass for 1 reason, and that is that the supply is really low. I am not sure how many of these cartridge games survived over the years, then again, how many people out there with SNES consoles hooked to the TV and looking to buy games for them.

That "Jaleco's US employees didn't even bother with the Japanese storyline" comment applies to nearly all their games, I'd say. Totally Rad on the NES for example. Do you really think that the final boss in Peace Keepers was a guy who kept quoting Shakespeare in Japan? AS IF! They even redid many of the character portraits in the text scenes.

Actraiser 2 was a good example of taking something that worked and forgetting all about it. I cannot deny how good the game looks and sounds, but the controls are not as good and getting rid of the simulation areas sucked.

They didn't just do that. There's actually a couple of characters they changed the color schemes of. Al's skin is darker than his Rushing Beat counterpart, and one hidden character at the beginning had his ethnicity changed entirely.

And then there's the music. Why they decided to gut the majority of the music in the game, I do not know.

Finally we've reached the point where price and demand are balanced. There's a limit to how much people will pay for nostalgia after all.

I had never heard of this peripheral until the other day, the Sufami Turbo:

Image

It was created by Bandai, apparently as a way to cut the cost of cart manufacturing. There were 13 games total. Somewhat similar to the Aladdin deck enhancer for the NES.

The games:

I just checked eBay and the Sufami Turbo is surprisingly inexpensive. Unlike that damn N64DD.

It is neat for a Super Fami collector, but most of the games are about as good as you would expect. If I remember correctly, most are soso platformers.

Well, I've begun ActRaiser and cleared the dungeons in Filmore and Bloodpool along with the desert area's first dungeon and about to enter the pyramid. My population is around 2000 or so, with 900+ in Filmore, 500+ in Bloodpool, and around 600+ in the desert. Let's see how things go...

Well I love soso platformers so this is right up my alley. 8)

And hey, at least this was made by Bandai... Contrast that to the Aladdin Deck Enhancer, which had a bunch of Codemasters titles.

I'd like to finish this someday. I've quit every time I've tried to play it. I find the platforming sections difficult and have no idea how the simulation parts work.
