I'm far from an expert in fighting games, and I don't think that complexity or frame-by-rame tweaking are necessary for a fighting engine to be fun. If the arcade mode presents a reasonable challenge with characters that i want to experiment with, I'll be happy.General_Norris wrote:Setting my paranoid distrust of the evil gaming press aside, do you trust reviews of fighting games? Re: Xbox One
This is a good point. Fighting games are best judged over time to see what mechanics do and do not hold up. KI also has the problem of a lot of free-to-play games: you'll end up fighting a lot of Jago's online as he is the only "free" character. Even then the roster is pretty shallow by any standard.General_Norris wrote:Setting my paranoid distrust of the evil gaming press aside, do you trust reviews of fighting games? Re: Xbox One
You could cancel your XBone preorder and get a WiiU instead for several hundred less.

Dave I dont think there is an arcade mode yet.

Right now, there's little else aside from training, survival and online modes. There isn't a story mode or an arcade mode, though the latter is promised for the future.

There are more Wii U games that interest me at this point.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:You could cancel your XBone preorder and get a WiiU instead for several hundred less.

The other reason I am on the fence is that I have a substantial amount of XBLA cash that I bought at 1/3 of the price which expires sometime in the near future...I was thinking of using this on launch games (thus reducing my costs by 1/3 for those titles). Decisions, decisions.

This is the boat I'm in. I'm going to buy it eventually, so I might as well get the chrome d-pad. Yes, I'm the type of idiot who will buy the day-1 edition for that......dsheinem wrote:lol.
part of me is thinking "fuck it, I'll just get it" because why put off the inevitable...

I am still leaning more towards no. I think I'll sleep on it. My bad experience with the launch PS4 and the fact that I wouldn't get to play with the One until Sunday at the earliest due to other commitments is also curbing my enthusiasm.Phades wrote:This is the boat I'm in. Re: Xbox One
Why is no one interested in Dead Rising 3? Thats the only game that makes me want to get an XboxOne .
There is no reason to get Xbox One on launch, it is very likely that it will have issues, games will be $60, graphical jump is not that high and usually launch games tend be not much improved upon last generation , online services will probably have issues.
If you wait, chances are higher that you will get a more reliable console, game prices will go down (or buy used) , patches and fixes would be released, more games will be released. There is no reason to jump and buy a new console especially when our backlogs are so huge...
I am guessing that for at least a year ahead many games will have ps3/360 releases too...heck ps2 just Fifa 2014 release. I wonder how many units did it sell , and if it was worth the investment to release it on a 12 year old console.

If you don't get it now it means the terrorists win.

I am now leaning towards "cancel it unless I learn my grant will pay for it" (a decision on that is still pending).
