Funny enough, critics completely disagree with you. Mad Max 2 is one of the few films on Rotten Tomatoes to have a 100%.

Between the two, I'm gonna go with Hard to Kill for when I introduce Segal. I'm debating if I should go with the Rocky series to introduce Dolph Lundgren, or if I should just bite the bullet and show her the homoerotic adventure Showdown in Little Tokyo. She thought Big Trouble in Little China was terribly awesome and awesomely terrible at the same time but really got a kick out of it, so Kurt's in. As for Sly, she's seen the first Rocky, and we've also watched The Specialist, though I had to argue that it's not anything close to his best or even that interesting within the genre overall. I'd rather have shown her Judge Dredd, frankly. So Demolition Man is coming up soon.

But first, she wants to do her own movie marathon, so I'm gonna have to watch Love, Actually and the 1990s Little Women.

Bloodsport

I loved this movie as a kid, and I watched it with my wife recently. She loved it. It is really really fun.

Agreed. These are also a lot of fun. You might also want to consider The Rundown (a severly under-rated movie that is to action films what Rayman Origins is to 2D platformers) and Red Scorpion (a terribly awesome late-1980s Dolph Lundgren piece produced by none other than "Casino" Jack Abramoff!).

I'm sorry. Both of those are bad, and my wife hates them both. (That said, she doesn't really care for that genre.) If there is a way you can guide her to My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Muriel's Wedding, or - best of all - A Room with a View, you will have a much better viewing experience.

...because they are waaaaayyyy better, and if you watch them first, you will not enjoy the remakes at all. (Doubtless, they are enjoyable films, but viewing the originals first will ruin them for you.)

Also, do your best to ignore the fact that Tom Hanks consistently buttons his collared shirts all the way to the top throughout Sleepless in Seattle. Once you notice it, it is incredibly distracting/funny, and (since buttoning a collared shirt all the way to the top is Hollywood shorthand for mentally retarded) it makes him look like Forrest Gump throughout large section of the film.

EDIT: I will second The Last Unicorn. That movie is fucking awesome. Everyone in my family loves it.

So...Good first 45 minutes of a movie?

Olympus Has Fallen

I have to assume this and White House Down came from the same spec script, but whereas WHD took the idea in a much more cheesy but fundamentally idealistic and hopeful direction, here they went with something more cynical and brutal.

Also unlike WHD, which had the threat come from within the american government, here we have a scene in which all the asians in Washington D.C suddenly turn into gun-toting jihadists and kung fu experts. It's that blatant. And despite having a pretty good group of actors in place, no one puts in a performance more than adequate.

So it is pretty forgettable, but when coupled with WHD will make a good case study for future film studies classes.

Yeah Bloodsport was a favorite as a kid as well for both my sister and me. I can always watch it on just nostalgia alone.

And saying Road Warrior is bad is crazy. While I enjoy the original, RW was more entertaining. It has also been a big driving force and primary influence on so many works of fiction and post apocalypse sci-fi.
